- omg, the election happened and i didn’t even post about it. we were very excited about voting, and this election took on a whole new meaning now that we literally have to consider the effects of our votes on our child(ren). here’s how that looked:
- on wednesday, our friend ben came into town so we went out for "happy hour" with him and a friend at corkbar and joaquin did a mostly good job of keeping cool throughout. we enjoyed some delcious ceviche (i missed this so much when i was preggers!) and some cheese gougeres. towards the end he got crankypants, so i took him home to feed him. nbd.
- the next day my friend heather came into town, and ben was still here, so we all went out to a delightful french provencal restaurant called industriel. we leisurely ate lunch with virtually no one else in the restaurant since we went around 2p and it was between rushes. it was awesome. joaquin slept the entire time. i had an amazing salad that included pomegranate, corn and kale and it was SO good. i also had a giant burger and split it with aaron and it was this: roquefort fondue, bacon, balsamic onion and arugula on a brioche bun. can i get a yum?
- heather and i hung out and caught up that night and she stayed with us while her husband was up in sacramento for work. it was nice and she was so sweet with joaquin. she’s also pregnant with her third baby! i am amazed that people can do this multiple times.
- friday night, aaron and i had tickets for book of mormon so my MIL watched joaquin and we had DATE NIGHT. it was so much fun!
- there were some pretty graphic Swears and Situations in the musical and the crowd was pretty mixed. even though aaron and i have pretty liberal sense(s) of humor, we were even a bit shocked by some of the subject matter. but what made it even MORE hilarious was the three rather old people sitting in front of us. during one particularly intense number, aaron and i were laughing so hard i thought i was going to hurt myself – and we were watching the Olds in front of us anxiously awaiting their reaction, but we could really only see the back of their heads. when the number ended, the crowd erupted in applause, and so did they! this made us laugh even harder. it helped that i had more wine that night than i’ve had in almost a year.. which isn’t a LOT, but it was enough to deliver me into a buzz that lasted the whole evening.
- FUN!
- the next day some more of our friends were in town (so many friends in town, all from MN!), so we had lunch with them and hung out for the day. at this point of the week, we had been "out" to eat every day since wednesday with little Quinito and he was a bit less cooperative. we ended up leaving the restaurant with a crying baby, but since he waited until we paid the bill to have his crying session, it was nbd.
- the next day was our 12-year anniversary and we took the little guy with us out to eat at a cute little hipster pizzaria in silverlake called lago d’argento. he was awesome and we enjoyed a LONG, leisurely dinner with some wine, pizza and delicious dessert. perfect.
- monday night our massage lady came over and we each had 2-hour rubdowns. it was so very needed and so wonderfully nice.
- HOWEVER, aaron threw his back out (slipped disc! no bueno AT ALL) on tuesday and he’s been in a world of hurt since. so i’ve been on full-time baby duty since then, and it’s been nothing short of EXHAUSTING. i knew he was a huge help with the baby before this happened, but i had no idea how much i relied on him for little breaks throughout the day. i’m so tired i’m cross-eyed.
- the good news is, he’s getting better. however, i still am on full-time duty. now! i get to walk the dog three times a day as well, which is fine, but again, i got spoiled that aaron did it all before. i also cooked him dinner (this never happens) the other night. i t was this: spaghetti squash "noodles", paul newman’s "sockarooni" sauce and trader joe’s gourmet chicken meatballs. it was a lot of YUM. i was impressed with my ability to roast a squash, heat up sauce & meatballs and then throw them all together.
- perhaps i will become domesticated with all this "momminess" kicking in.
- today i am going to try and get a workout in at some point and finish this entry.
- so far it’s looking good.
- in weight loss news, i am now down 27 lbs from the end of my pregnancy, which means i have 10 to go to get to pre-preggers weight and 12 to go to get to my ideal weight. it’s been slower than i’d anticipated, but considering each boob gained a couple of lbs each, i am not getting to worried about losing the last 10+ lbs. it just might not be until the holidays.
- just in time to pack it back on! ha!
- anyway.<

and back to it, i go.
Good God. Already down 27? I wish I was you.

Ok, totally jealous that you only have 12 lbs to go for your goal. I’m down to my pre-pregnancy weight but since I had just started working out/dieting when I GOT pregnant, my weight loss goal is an amount that I don’t even want to utter out loud. It makes me cringe. But hey, at least the baby weight is gone, right?
