joaquin update (pics?)

joaquin has quickly become a super roller, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that we can’t take our eyes off him for a moment during the diaper changing process or he may go rolling right off the changing area.   and really, we can’t look away when anything AT ALL is within reach of him.  this includes:   food for adults, beverages, baby wipes, clothes that we are getting ready to put on him or take off him, etc.  

in general, it’s super adorable to watch him figure things out, and it’s equally adorable to see him get frustrated when he’s trying to figure something out but it doesn’t go EXACTLY his way.  he seems to be a bit particular, that one.

favorite things right now:

– his jumparoo.  OMG.  he’s in so much love with it it hurts my face
– his sophie the giraffe
– monkey noises
– chicken noises
– horsey noises
– shirts with interesting designs/textures
– the strings on my hoodies (he likes to play with them when he SHOULD be nursing)
– these songs:   monkeys jumping on the bed, she’ll be coming round the mountain, B-I-N-G-O
– these books:  harold & the purple crayon, the hungry caterpillar, hop on pop
– anything that crinkles when he grabs it, including the paper pages of his precious books
– falling asleep in his car seat
– swaddle me velcro wraps
– bath time (especially if he gets to suck on his washcloth the.whole.time)
– being naked
– the NAKED BABY song  (he’s a naked, naked baby, he’s a naked, naked baby, he’s a naked, naked baby:  he’s NAKED and he’s A BABY!) 
– (yes, i did pen those lyrics myself)
– massage/lotion time

things he hates:

– naps.  OMG HATES TO NAP.   usually it’s a battle of wills with aaron or i, until we finally win.  when he’s at my MIL’s house, she always lets him fall asleep ON HER.  every time.  and he goes there every weekday.    at some point … we think this might change?
– cold bath water 
– getting stuck on his tummy when he "forgets" how to roll back
– being hungry
– being tired  (see naps)
– getting in the car seat 
– when his favorite toys don’t go into his mouth EXACTLY THE RIGHT WAY
– wet /dirty diapers

OVERALL:  in the past 2-3 weeks, he’s really blossomed and has become a super smiley charming silly baby.    he’s so much fun, and it’s so amazing to watch him learn and grow.   i need to post some more pictures, but i am going to run lines with my dear husband so he can nail an audition tomorrow.
