Killer’s parents hug, cry with parents of 2 slain

From CNN.com.

Pastor Brady Boyd calls it the “highlight of my ministry” — seeing the parents of the man who shot up his church be embraced by the parents of two teenage sisters who were killed in the attack.

I should probably just shut my pie hole. Nobody at my church was shot up. But, something about what he said just rubs me the wrong way. I’m sure it was quite affecting, but if he was going to say anything publicly, maybe it should have been about God or Jesus or something. Calling this the “highlight of his ministry” seems to trivialize it and almost turn it into something he read in Chicken Soup for the Megachurch Pastor’s Soul.

I haven’t read anything about this, so I can’t speak to the whole story, but it sounds like he is talking about the power of God working in someone’s life. That is what it would take for the parents of the victims to want to embrace the parents of the killers. It would have been nice if he had mentioned God, though. ~Nissa

But take it from a minister, don’t be too quick to judge his intent or meaning. That’s one of the most frustrating aspects of being in the ministry at times–believers who jump to the wrong conclusion. ~Nis
