Hot – and Jamie Fraser!

I’m officially melting!  OMG it’s the hottest day of the year so far for us.  Summer has been a little late arriving with us this year – but it went from quite autumnal weather to heat wave in the space of a couple of days.  I’m not a sun loving gal it has to be said, never have been. I’m prone to passing out  which can be very embarrasing at times. Thankfully I am now more aware of when it is going to happen so can avoid it mostly.

Hubby went off on his motorbike trip on wednesday. He’s having a great time touring round Scotland, emailing me photos of where he is. It’s making me impatient for our main family holiday in August, when we are taking the caravan up there again. It’s actually been quite nice not having him here for a few days. I booked the weekend off work as I was originally told in laws were  going away also. They had a change of plan, so are actually around. But I’m loving not working at the weekend. Doesn’t usually happen unless we are away. I had thought about going to Wales to see my family, but my eldest wanted to go to a sleep over at a friends, and to be honest, I think I am better to wait until the summer holidays and we can pop down in the week for a few days.  Hubby is due back tomorrow, probably late evening.  I did put in a request for him to bring me home some scottish tablet (very sweet, and very bad for you) it will be interesting to see if he remembers!

Speaking of scotland, my all time favorite series of books by Diana Gabaldon (known as the Outlander series) is being made into a tv series.  There have been rumours for a while and fans of the books have been suggesting who to cast for years. Of course this has changed as time went on. The main, male, character in the storys is Jamie Fraser, and he was the first fictional character I fell totally in love with, and I’m not alone.  Well it was announced this week that they have finally chosen the actor to play Jamie, fully endorsed by Diana Gabaldon, his name is Sam Heughan. Now I’m not familiar with his work, so obviously googled him and was so pleased to find that he is actually scottish – yey and the fact that he is gorgeous and has stunning eyes he is almost the perfect Jamie. The only thing that wlll need to be done is hair colour, as our Jamie is a red heided highlander!  So excited now to see who they cast as his life time love Claire, and for that matter the rest of the main characters.  Now they have Jamie I doubt the rest of the casting will take long. Just have to hope now that when it is made we actually get to see it in the UK. So this is the ‘promotional photo’  of the moment

I also bought a film he was in with Katie McGrath (who was totally amazing in Merlin!)  A lovely girly film called Christmas Princess. And having seen him in that – yeah have to say, I’m smitten. He will be an amazing Jamie. He’s on twitter so obviously I started following him and he’s already impressed the outlander fans with his knowledge of the character and he’s working his way through the books (there are 7 of them, with the 8th out next year!) Plus he is being amazingly sweet to everyone – he favorited 2 of my tweets to him, causing a little mini fan girl *squuueeeee* moment 😉   I can’t recomend these books enough. if you like books that have a bit of time travel, romance, history and big scottish highlanders – check them out.  http://www.dianagabaldon.com/

Right I need to and sort my daughter out as it has gone worryingly quiet in her room! Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend

Love and blessings xxx

I’m loving this weather though I don’t have passing out to worry about! My glaswegian neighbours used to make tablet when I was a kid – it was amazing! X

We loved the weather while we were there- it rained a little at times but wasn’t bad, and we had several very pretty blue-sky days. I’ve actually always been a lover of hot weather, but oddly I seem to be turning the other way- it was coolish (to us) there, and I loved it. Great for hiking. It gets very humid here, even in the mountains now thanks to climate change. Since we got back it has rained NON-STOP. And I keep hearing how great the weather has been there. I want to come back!

Ok so I am intrigued about this tablet stuff. Tell me more! lol.

Okay so I did a goggle search. Sounds like our fudge.

Smitten – I totally love that word, though I’m not even sure how to use it! 😛 I definitely have to check out those series now… “worryingly quiet” – ahem, when kids go quiet, they are definitely upto some mischief!

I fell in love with Jamie Fraser too just before meeting Husband, I kept accidentally calling him Jamie lol. Wow can’t wait for the films, I actually only ever read one book and never managed to hunt down the rest. The actor bloke is beautiful but he doesn’t look like my brain’s Jamie at all 🙁

Got It Together: Yeah it does sound like and is made almost identically to fudge but it is nothing at all like fudge in taste or texture. I think it’s cooked longer or hotter or something (I know my fudge usually turns into tablet and my tablet never works properly but not sure why, you should order some online, it is super!)
