Apologies

For not updating. Been crazy busy this last month.So much has happened I hardly know where to start!  I will deal with the holiday in the next entry – I have to upload photos first!

So big change – different job.  I may have mentioned previously that I loved my job – and I really did. But there just wasn’t enough work to go round. When my daughter started school I had told them I would prefer to work more during the day, and less evening/weekends.  This just didn’t happen. Mainly due to 1 particular woman refusing to be at all flexible (even though she could have been – being able to drink alcohol was her priority – saying no more!)  So,a year on, I registered my cv with a few agencies and applied online for a few jobs. Then I got a phone call asking if I was still interested in one job I had applied for (had to remember which one – cus I’d applied for quite a few lol)  So off I went to the interview.  Actually it was the first interview, mainly for the manage to suss out if I was the kind of person they want working for them. Of course, she fell totally in love with me (not in THAT way – people!!) and then asked if I would come back for the second, more formal interview. She told me that if I had changed my mind having heard everything that was involved to give her a ring – but she really hoped I would attend and she really wanted me to come work for them.  I tell you – I left that day feeling really positive for the first time in bloody ages!  So, the second interview arrived and it was with the manager again and another member of staff, I had some ‘official’ kind of questions to answer, which went pretty well. once again – felt quite positive. At the end of the interview the manager told me she would be contacting me in a few days to let me know either way.  Great I told her, but then remembered to mention we were going on holiday at the end of the week and then away for 2. To which she asked me to take a seat for a minute and ran off.  When she returned she apologised for rushing off but just needed to confirm with her colleeuge that they were happy with everything, and she offered me the job there and then! I had all the info on me to fill in the criminal check (used to be called CRB, now called something else!) And that was that!  I started last wednesday and so far – love it! I think I’m going to be happy working there.  So, details! I am actually working in a retirement village – as a housekeeper.  I am working 9.30-2.30pm four days a week.  I only have to work 1 in 3 weekends, the pay is more, the training is amazing and I’m working within a team of women (could be a good or bad thing!!) and the work mainly consists of flat cleaning, communal areas cleaning and laundry. Plus you still have the bonus of helping out some amazingly interesting people. The atmosphere is really upbeat and everyone is amazingly friendly.  Lets hope it lasts lol.

So it  still feels a bit strange – being at home on a saturday. Still keep checking my watch thinking I have to go out on work calls, and I think it will take a while to forget to do that!  But it’s actually really good to know that I can do things at the weekends now. In fact I already made the most of my first weekend (last weekend) and had a little trip to London to meet up with some friends from one of my online fan groups.  I tell you, it was fantastic to just be out – not being a mum or a wife for a few hours – just talking with friends about a subject we all love, eating a lovely meal out….. bliss!  Roll on more social life I say!  Time this bored housewife had more of a life.

So – that’s the biggest news, will now  go upload some pics to work on the Holiday entry!
