37 years later

After a break of what seems like 37 years, I’m trying to write here again.  This is NOT a New Year’s resolution; I don’t do them, but in case anybody reads this, I wish you a happy and prosperous New Year.

All my Christmas is back in the loft again, never to be thought of again for the following 11 months or so.

Last year, on November 11th, I joined the elite club of grandparents.  The downside is that the new baby shares a birthday with my ex.  Maybe he’ll remember this birthday because he never remembers any others including his son’s 18th and 21st and all others in between and either side.

My daughter in Calgary had a baby boy.  He is, of course, the best baby ever born and I do feel a tad sorry for everyone else whose baby grandchildren just can’t compete.  I visited daughter and her boyfriend for a couple of weeks before Christmas; she is coping far better than I ever imagined she would, but the visit itself was….. odd.  Maybe I’ll elaborate in another entry if I keep my non-resolution.  However, seeing daughter cope and clearly loving being a mum is something that I can’t put a price on, despite all the expensive oddness.

I like her boyfriend too and I like his taste in music (even though he doesn’t recognise Jon Bon Jovi as the god he truly is (ok, he’s aging, but so am I!)).  I hope she will change her track record of short-lived relationships now there’s a baby in the equation.

I’m glad I paid for the lifetime membership.  I wouldn’t have come back here if I didn’t have that.

So lovely to see you back on here, and congratulations on your grandparentness! x

Oooh, and I like your new OD look. Yes, it’s good to have you back here. And a HUGE congrats, I want a GB in the worst way, and Boy is madly in love and maybe by next year they’ll be married and they both want children so I do not think I have to wait too long. Also, don’t want to count my chicks before they’ve gone to roost. *smile*
