Who’d have thought it?!
Does it get worse or better? Having had time to think I have realised that one of the problems I’ve had is the worry over finances. Like everyone else in this cash crisis time, we’re slightly struggling, not so much that we’re in debt, but always too much month left at the end of the money. We get by, we’ve always got a full freezer, plenty of clothes and we have entertainment, a hell of a lot more than many people in the world. But there’s never anything left for the little treats now and again, you know what I mean?
So……………I took the decision to sell the Harley. Yes , I know, it’s been my dream bike for so long, chances of me getting another one will be slim and many years in the future again, but to be honest in 4 years I’d only done 13,000 miles, which is nothing and meant that the bike was sitting in the garage most of the year. I couldn’t really justify such an expensive bike sitting there doing nothing because it was what “I” wanted. Anyway, I did the deal yesterday and sold her back to the dealers at Uppingham. Yes it broke my heart. I couldn’t look at her as we drove away. But I know it’s for the best. I won’t be without a bike. Dawn and I talked after I’d made the decision and I said I need to buy another one asap, obviously cheaper, that I could justify sitting there when the weather was too bad. I’d decided that I was going to get a Triumph. They’re British, I’ve already owned 4, and I am not keen on any Jap bikes these days, and the fact that my close friend form my RAF days also works at in the Warranty dept at the Triumph factory also helps! LOL
What I didn’t expect was to sort things out so quick. I’ve still got to wait for the company’s cheque to clear, but I started looking online today. Motorcycle News, the weekly paper over here, had a good lot of bikes in my price range and I found exactly what I was looking for , a Triumph Trophy 1200 with long MOT and Tax, recently serviced in my price range. This one is in British Racing Green, and is complete with panniers and topcase. And the amazing thing is it was only 2 miles down the road from us!!!!! Couldn’t believe it, but anyway I rang the guy, asked if I could look at it today. He’s selling it because he had an accident 10 months ago (not on this bike) and has ankle problems and needs a lighter bike. Turns out the guy is a Policeman as well! A really nice guy, the bike is in perfect condition for its age. I explained my position about waiting for the cheque to clear and asked him to keep it for me. I did leave £100 deposit subject to road testing it. (Lee lent me the money till the cheque clears!) So all being well I should pick it up on the 1st September. So I won’t be without a bike for long at all. I’ve got to clear the garage out though now cos it’s a little bigger than the Harley , believe it or not.
Of course I’ll take photos of it when I get it. Thinking I may have to change my diary name though!

The path to our destination is not always a straight one. We go down the wrong road, we get lost, we turn back. Maybe it doesn’t matter which road we embark on. Maybe what matters is that we embark.

Well…does this mean you’ll be changing your diary name to “Triumph”? Cause, ya know…that would be hard to get used to…

Gosh! Who’d have thunk it? lol. That was very brave and selfless of you….and I’m glad you have found something else at least. When I was a teen I rode on back on a Triumph 650 for a couple of years with a bikey boyfriend..it was a great bike. hugs P
