Well….

 ……it’s been a while!

Just show’s you what happens when you get a job!

Work has been ok.  The actual work itself has been good, but once again politics has reared it’s ugly head that has spoilt it.

The first month I spent 2 weeks with the District Nurse (the team leader) which was absolutely manic and made me wonder if I’d done the right thing.  Then she went on leave and I ended up being thrown in at the deep end and on my own.  This was probably a good thing as I started enjoying it more.   Unfortunately after 4 weeks of being on my own, on a very busy day, when once more we were understaffed I was rushing to see my last patient of the day, already 30 minutes late, when I tripped up a kerb and went head first into his garden gate.  After a few seconds of wondering WTF just happened, I did a quick stock check of all my faculties. I deduced I had bent my glasses, got several scratches on my nose and forehead, right elbow, but worst of all, I had split open and also dislocated the ring finger on my left hand.  It was a really bad cut. I re-located the finger myself almost immediately, went into the patients house, took a couple of minutes to compose myself, administered his eyedrops and then took myself to the ER!  Three hours and 5 stitches later (after a clean up) I left again.  It then took 18 days for it to heal during which I couldn’t work. I’ve been left with a finger that has limited movement from the top joint due to tendon damage, and swollen 2 sizes bigger. I know that because I have had to have my wedding ring resized. Luckily I removed the ring while waiting in the ER.

Once back again I got on really well and am still pretty much enjoying it. The politics have come in with the hierarchy changing the teams around.  Just as I was getting to understand the job, the surgeries, the GPs we work with, knowing the patients well……the powers that be have moved me to another surgery! I move over on January 9th.  I’ve met the new team and they seem pretty nice. I do know the surgery is smaller than I have been working with so the case load should be a lot easier!!!

On the family front, daughter #2 has settled well in Cornwall, changed jobs already and got a really good one with better money and more interesting than the one she moved down to at first.  She’s been home a couple of times (inc over Xmas) but has gone back now. We do miss her a lot though.

Grandchild #3 is growing up to be a real character. She is very loving but so bloody naughty it’s comical!  Photos added to show you just how she is growing up.  Everyone says she is a Grandad’s girl…I can’t see it myself! LOL

Ain’t she gorgeous!

This was taken at Xmas. Kelsie, Logan and Jayden.

Lee finally got his compensation claim sorted.  We didn’t get exactly what we wanted but close enough.  Since then he has totally changed. He’s a lot happier, a lot more social and less depressed.   We (Dawn and I) got some of it as the Carer’s element.  So we bought Dawn a new car and me a new bike (of course!).  I’m still keeping the tourer as that will be a modern classic in the near future because Triumph don’t make 4-cylinder machines any more.  I bought myself a Triumph Bonneville America, and 865cc custom style, again photos to follow.  Lee bought himself a Can-Am Spyder, a 3-wheeled beast with 2 in front and 1 at the back, with a 998cc V-twin engine.  Mow he just needs to get his licence back to ride it!  Hopefully that will happen soon in the New Year.

The new Bonny America

He’s also bought us a bungalow that we will actually own, rather than rent like the one we are in at present.  Again hopefully very shortly in the New Year we should be moving in.

So 2011 has ended in a pretty good way for us all really, and we are hoping 2012 finds us carrying on the trend.

Who knows, I mean even write here more often! LOL

Hope you all have a great new year.

Hugz All

Happy New Year!

Well if this doesn’t beat all and start the new year with a bang. I actually had to ponder if RNBiker was really you, it has been so long, lol. So glad to hear all the terrific news, especially Lee’s progress. Must be nearly ten years now, wow. Do enjoy your new home and that very sweet Bonnie. Wait till Torin gets wind of that news! Congrats on the new job, may it be a happy new year. Come back!

AND, I cannot believe how big the grandchildren are now. #3 looks so much like you one has to wonder….well, just saying, wouldn’t surprise most of us if you slipped another one into the world! 🙂 Keep writing, posting photos and take a few bike tours. That alone will give many adventures to tell about. BE SAFE, you know how those OTHER people drive! Have missed you and glad to see you back! Hugs

RYN: HEhe you missed more than you think! Impending arrivals! Twins! 🙂 Girls:)

It’s so great to read all of this! I am glad the job is okay. I know what you mean about politics ruining a good thing at work. I’ve dealt with that too many times to want to remember. Congratulations on the new home and bikes!
