Surely it’s not that long?
….since I last wrote! Come on , people. Get your minds out of the gutter!!
So christmas has come and gone…..only another 11 months before the next one. We had a great time (despite the snow hanging around for so long!). We had all the family here on Christmas Day. We also had a bit of a surprise on Christmas Eve when Vicki finally made the decision to split from her asshole of a partner. It had been on the cards for months, but she has struggled to actually do the deed. It really made our Xmas. She has settled back in really well, and managed to remain friends with him. They go out for a drink occasionally. I’m not happy about that because I think he may hope there is a chance she will go back to him, but we are sure that there isn’t. She seems happier than she has done for about 12 months now.
I was notified before Xmas that I WAS being made redundant, which came as no surprise. I’ve applied for a few jobs, had a couple of interviews, but nothing has happened so far. Got another interview on Monday, which is probably the most hopeful, as it is another research job, with some people I have worked with already, and it’s just for Bank (part-time) work. This will give me some income while I am still looking for a full-time job. I’m in the lucky position of not being too worried at present, but come the end of February, if nothing concrete is in place, I’ll start getting a little worried.
Lee has a lot of appointments coming up to see “experts” for reports for the solicitors. We are expecting it be all settled, out of court, by June this year. That will be a weight of his mind and maybe then he can get on with the rest of his life! He’s doing better than he was, counselling is helping a lot, and we have also managed to get his rehab transferred to Peterborough, so he doesn’t have 2 hour trip to and from the other hospital. That is helping a great deal with his finances too.
Dawn and Vicki have just come back from a couple of days in Northern Ireland. They went over to attend our nephew’s wedding. We couldn’t afford for all of us to go, and we couldn’t leave Lee on his own. They had a good time , and while she was there, with her sister, she arranged for us to go and spend some time with her in Spain (where she has lived for about 8 years now) in Mid-May, so I am really looking forward to that. It will be the first break away for us for about 5 years. I think we deserve it!
‘Little’ Kelsie is 8 months old now, crawling well, and actually standing holding onto the furniture. She is so advanced it’s unreal! She’s mostly a happy thing but does have her whining moments when Paula isn’t around! She really is a mummy’s girl. Jayden is doing great. He;s at kindergarten every day now. Logan was 8 2 weeks ago. He is doing well with his football. He plays in goal for the local under-9’s soccer team. They are either 1st or 2nd in their league at the moment. They won 7-2 today!
I went over to see a couple of old friends last weekend. Pete was my best mate in the RAF, we met on 16Sqdn in Germany in ’78. He’s a biker and we did a lot of rallies and touring together. We’ve kept in touch ever since. He now actually works for the Triumph manufacturer, in Hinckley , near Leicester. He can get stuff cheap for me, and had managed to get me some waterproof trousers and a couple of T-shirts so I went over to pick them up. Stayed there catching up for a while , then left and went to a little village called Market Bosworth, about 10 miles away from there, where another mate lives. Kev I have known since 1973. we were in the Air Training Corps (Air Cadets) before he joined the Police force, and I joined the RAF. We have kept in touch sporadically over the years, but over the last few months have been in contact more. It was great to see him again and we had a real laugh talking about old times and the things we got up to back in the ’70’s that would be frowned upon by the health and safety monitors these days!
Wednesday I got a phone call when Dawn and I were out shopping, from Lynn, Pete’s wife. Pete had a heart attack on monday and was in hospital. He’d already had a stent fitted and was feeling much better. This came as a great shock obviously, especially as Pete is 2 years younger than me! He is out of hospital now and back home. I spoke to him today and he sounds really good. He was telling me that his family history has his father and grandfather both dying in their 50’s of cardiac problems!!!!! Talk about wake-up call!
So there ya have it. All caught up again. Who knows when the next one will be! LOL

ryn: No, she’s actually THAT PALE. haha! She has really delicate skin and gets sun burned really fast, even in winter. So she never goes out without sunblock on and her skin is just as white as porcelain. She doesn’t wear makeup, either, so there is no way to hide the pallor.

Nice to see an update. With a smile…

*dusting myself off* Fell off my chair, not because it has been so long since you made an entry. I’ve been gone so long I didn’t know about Lee, grandbabies, or jobs. And here you write about friends reuniting and catching up…I think we should put some of that eastern philosophy we like where our mouths are!
