First Bike run of the year
What a great day! The ride went really well. The bike behaved beautifully, never missed a beat and was so smooth, even two-up.
It started off with us meeting up at the local Triumph Dealer. I’d never met any of the Owners Club members before so it was a round of introductions, and they even introduced themselves to Vicki. This was so different from the Harley Owners runs I went on! Everyone chatted, obviously mostly about bikes, but there was a really friendly atmosphere. Then we set off and the leader took us via a route to miss a lot of road works which was ideal. The vista’s were wonderful but the road was sooooooooooo bumpy! It was fun though. Then we met another of the members at the next stop, where I also filled the tank. Then it was off to Bainland Country Park, Woodhall Spa. This is where they are holding the Owners Group National rally in 2010. We stopped for a cup of coffee and to warm up a bit. Actually it wasn’t too cold, but the wind was a bit wicked and knocking us sideways a bit. It can be scary when you are riding, leaning into the wind to go straight and then you pass a wind break of trees, because you suddenly lunge to the side you’re leaning and there are usually deep dykes at the side of the road!
We spent 45 mins at Bainland and were suitable warmed and wetted to carry on to Skegness on the coast. The sun had gone in and it was overcast but no threat of rain. The wind was still gracing us with its presence which did drop the temperature a few degrees. We had our fish n chip lunches which tastes so much different at “the seaside”. Then Vicki and I wandered around on our own as I needed to do some shopping for Mothers Day today (Sunday). We met the other guys back on the promenade again where we munched on Belgian waffles! What can I say, it was a decadent kind of day! LOL
Then we set off back to home. There were 7 bikes in all and I was the only one carrying a passenger. There were 3 Bonnevilles, 3 Sprint STs, and my Trophy. All Hinckley built bikes, although some of the members do also own Meriden ones. We left them at Spalding as they were going back to Peterborough and we could use the back roads to get back to Bourne. We did about 150 miles for the day, and my legs and bum knew it! It’s been a while since I rode any distance but I have a lot of similar days out coming up so will soon get my buttocks used to it again! For Vicki, bless her, this was the furthest she’s ever been on a bike. She was feeling it in bum and legs. She was also cold and we worked out she’d had all her gear for nearly 5 years. She needs a new helmet for sure, her gloves I think must be wearing thin , and her jacket no longer fits her as she was a bit more portly when she bought it! She has lost a lot of weight and it was more like a sail on her! She did enjoy it though, even though she was the only female amongst a load of older guys. It was a real good daddy/daughter day, which I think we will repeat some time this year.
Today she is feeling fine and ready to do it again she says! LOL Today here, is Mother’s Day and we have a meal booked at the local inn. It was going to be a treat for Dawn and my Mother, but unfortunately my mother is not very well so we will be going to visit her after the meal.
And that’s all there is for now. Later guys.

Hey! Glad you had a great day. How was the weather? Has all that snow gone now? Oh! Poor Vicky – my daughter would do the same thing too, tough it out!, just to spend quality time with her mum! Very pleased you travelled & arrived home safely though! Emmi

Sounds amazing 🙂 Glad you & Vicky enjoyed it so much! She needs good clothes though, sooo important to keep you warm & safe on a bike! When’s the next tour? 🙂 Did Dawn enjoy the Mothers Day outing? What is it anyway, ‘cuz it ain’t Mothersday yet, right? 🙂

RYN: I think it’s a pity that your daughters gave it up when they passed the car test. Driving the bike is so much more fun 🙂 But then again, with the 3rd one on the way, I wouldn’t be riding a bike either haha. Wow, that’s a very shocking story from your son 🙁 How does he take it all? Must be devastating. Not his fault, but his body is ruined. Thanks to drunk driver. UGH drunk drivers make me

Thank you SO SO SO much for your note on my bitchy entry. You were the only one who dared saying anything to me and it was GOOD that you did. I did pull myself together. And believe it or not; I remembered your words when I headed to the exam. You’ve been a huge help, thank you so much for that!!! BIG HUGS!

RYN: Yes, it’s a Sprint ST 995 🙂 The 1050 is amazing but a bit too much for me right now. The power and the money is a bit too high yet 🙂 I love it though, but I also love the 995 🙂 Gonna test drive one this saturday, can’t wait 🙂 Yeah, I know there’s a new prototype coming up. I’ve heard the rumors and seen a few pics. Really excited to see the new bike 🙂 HUGS

RYN: I already have a tattoo (one) 🙂 but the idea of a 2nd one has been on my mind for a long time. Now the occasion has come up and I like the idea. Although I want somebody to draw one for me first… I can’t draw at all. Any tips? 🙂 Yes, my early life has been ****ty, but I don’t like being a victim, so I just fight back and pick fights. That’s my strategy. It doesn’t always work though, as

you might’ve noticed 🙂 You’ve got your license since 1975!! Wow, I wasn’t even born then LOL 🙂 Amazing. I know the UK and the Netherlands are pretty the same regarding getting your bike/car license. Tough rules! I think it’s good though but I know I’ve wished many times I just lived in the USA bc it would be so much easier 🙂 Now I’m glad I didn’t and really learnt how to DRIVE a BIKE 🙂

LOL they say people in the Netherlands are more nice then German people 🙂 I’m living in Utrecht but originally I come from Curaçao, the Caribbean. I’ve been born there and lived there for 17 years before I came to Holland for my bachelor degree. I live here now for 13 years. What exactly is the RAF?

Loved reading about the journey and your new bike’s performance. We receive so many bikers, hundreds of them, taking up this mountain route. It’s always very nice people.
