Could it be?

…A White Christmas???    Forecasters say it may be this year.   I’m certainly glad I’m not working at the moment.   Roads in this part of the country are pretty lethal.

A 39-yr old woman pedestrian was killed 2 days ago after being hit by an ambulance that was on an emergency call.  They were on their way to a car that had ended up in a  ditch, and ended up on their roof in a ditch themselves.  The two paramedics were stable in hospital, last I heard.

Thursday night/friday morning it snowed.  We had been warned that it would be heavy and below is what we woke up to on friday morning.

Outside the front door.

Down the drive.

The Back garden.

We had quite a bit more during the day on friday.  Today (saturday) it’s just frozen. The temperature went down to -6C overnight.  We’re due more snow tonight as well as during the week.  I don’t know if it will actually snow on Christmas Day but I am sure we will have some of this left anyway!

It was that cold over this side of the Big Pond that the Eurostar trains broke down in the Channel tunnel!  Apparently going from the freezing cold temperatures in France to the warmer air actually inside the Tunnel caused the trains to stop. Four trains were stuck for about 4-6 hours.

So I am so glad I don’t have to go out and brave this stuff! I chose to leave just at the right time LOL. Now I just have to hope it’s all cleared by January!

Isn’t this just typical of Human beings: The weather here in NZ is not that ‘flash,’ but the temperatures are…lets just say that it’s so warm, I go to bed with no covers & a headache, and awake with no covers and the same headache. I DON’T like warm – I don’t like cold, I want MODERATE! Seems like the whole Northern Hemisphere’s in snow-down! Hopefully it’s all gone before you begin the new job.

you guys need to learn how to drive in that stuff; here that would be just a dusting……::ducking::

How pretty! I guess the rails must contract and expand or something due to the temperature changes?

i was going to say.. its not weird for us to post photos of snow on the same day except i remembered… it doesn’t snow there often! 😛 i’m glad you are enjoying it. looks too fluffy for snow balls but maybe if the air stays cold enough you can get something out of it.
