Ok, OK, I know I said I’d be writing more regularly but so much has happened over the last couple of months.
Lee has recovered really well from the amputation. Has had one week of rehab, where he was actually up and walking on his prosthetic leg with just a walking stick. Then he was allowed home for a week while they made a new “cup” and leg for him, and he is back again on Monday for another full week.
He remains in a positive attitude, and is still going here there and everywhere in his car, so much so that we hardly see when he is home! Still I am glad he is that way rather than staying at home and moping about.
Kelsie, new granddaughter, is growing well and becoming a right roly-poly, bless her. She “talks” and laughs now and is generally a happy little soul, unless she is being ignored LOL. A certain Ohioan diarist I spoke to recently insisted I got my butt back here and posted some photos so here they are.

House move has come and gone. So we now live in a lovely chalet bungalow, with a huge garden, three ponds, secluded by mature trees, and is just absolutely fantastic. It’s been a tonic to both Dawn and myself. Dawn is so laid back now and really happy.  She has gone mad with the gardening. The place was really overgrown and had just been let go by the previous tenants, so we have both set to with gusto. Got my hedge trimmer out and cut back loads of trees/bushes, pulled down ivy, pulled up weeds, and generally gone mad! But the place is looking absolutely brilliant. Paula and Andrew (eldest & hubby) have a friend who is a rep for a company dealing with aquariums and ponds, so he is helping us to clean the water in the ponds ready for some fish! I would have liked some Koi, but Phil (the friend) advises me the ponds aren’t big enough so advised Shubunkin instead, which are a bit bigger then goldfish but coloured like Koi.
Job-wise things are OK. I certainly didn’t make a mistake of leaving the Walk-In Centre as there is a lot of unrest there now as things are changing due to the NHS getting rid of it and the place is supposed to be taken over by a “Social Enterprise” system. The job I do now, Clinical Research, is great . I do enjoy it, just not so sure about the company I work for who seem to think of nothing else but money. I know it’s a commercial business, but if they are THAT intent on getting money in a)are they in financial trouble and b)shouldn’t nurses have some thoughts for the patients as well? So while I am still sticking to the job at present I am keeping my eye open in case anything else of interest arises.
Weather in this part of the world is staying mostly sunny n dry but with the occasional wet and dreary day as per normal Brit weather. Still using my bike more than the car, oh yeah we got a new car too! With Lee passing his test and using his own car all the time, we needed to get a smaller car (just for the 2 of us) and an automatic for Dawn to drive as she has elbow problems using a stick shift.  So we bought ourselves a 6 yr old Mitsubishi Colt 1.5 Di-D (Diesel) 5-door with pretty low mileage. It’s a lovely little thing and goes really well for such small engine. We are getting about 55 to the gallon from it which is even better.
So that’s the latest with the RNBiker family on this side of the pond. HOPEFULLY I will update a bit sooner next time. Take care all.

RYN: I will shop till I drop and yes, I’ll have to carry it all by myself too on my return but you know what.. that’s why they’ve invented suitcases with wheels, elevators, and cars that you can park at the airport and in front of your home LOL 🙂 Take care honey and hope you will write soon again. Miss your writings and chatter! XOXO

Ho! You’ve even moved houses since last we heard from you! Things are getting really difficult in the employment market now – so have you thought of going private?? You know, marketing your services as an individual Professional Nurse. I suppose you’ve already thought of it, but it may eventually, be the only way forward in this economic climate!! Emmi

RYN: It was a deliberate word choice. Glad that Lee is adjusting well. I still want to kick the ass of the fool that hit him.

great to see you writing here again and posting pics. Little Kelsie is truly a delight….and I am glad you are all settled now into your new ‘chalet’ home. I also have just moved – but just down the garden into the studio apartment. Had to give up the house – it was too expensive to rent on my budget. hugs to you all P
