NoJoMo – Pisces, the Fishes

It seems that sometime during the day today that I got a new reader. A fellow geocacher from Nova Scotia, Canada and an avid reader of other people’s diaries. Welcome to my diary That Jones Thing! I hope that you enjoyed reading through years worth of entries. Just to let you know, I am working on answering all of your questions that you posed to me in notes. And, no, I don’t mind if you keep coming back.

A good friend of mine posed a specific question to me the other day and, while I haven’t replied to her directly, I haven’t forgotten about the question either. It’s been a tough question to answer as there are multiple instances but nothing I can say that “this specifically” was the cause. But, I think that’s going to change soon.

Her question:

Do you have any examples from your own life of how The Rule (Law?) of Three has worked in your life? [Principassa Pollyana]

This morning, I was sent a message about swapping my load for someone else’s because they (apparently) didn’t do their job properly. When asked, I was essentially being required to lose almost 500 miles for the same amount of time and deliver in the middle of the night – which is something I find that I cannot do anymore. Plus, an old adage popped into my mind when this happened:

Lack of preparation on your part does not constitute as an emergency on my part.

So, I told my dispatcher (a temporary one as my full-time dispatcher is on vacation this week) that I would not be able to do the load unless the delivery were rescheduled – FOR SAFETY REASONS. When I elaborated, you would’ve thought I told the lady that I eat cold baby meat sandwiches for lunch by her reaction. “You don’t drive at NIGHT?!?!” I replied that no, I don’t because, for some reason, I can’t seem to keep my eyes open after midnight. Needless to say, she was extremely unhappy but had no choice in the matter and I didn’t go get that load.

The Rule of Three now will come back and bite me in that this dispatcher will most likely make me sit all weekend and, unfortunately, I’m going to lose more miles than I would’ve lost by taking the load. But, I felt it was only right to let this woman know that I would’ve been risking myself, the load, and the truck and trailer by trying to go down the road with my eyes rolling into the back of my head. After all, I’m only trying to get focused on my thoughts.

Pisces, the Fishes
February 19th

The zodiacal month of Pisces begins around now. Although sign of the Fishes was once governed by Jupiter, the discovery of the planet Neptune, named for the Roman god of the sea, prompted its reassignment to this eminently appropriate new planetary ruler. The piscine pair’s element of water is equally apt, while its polarity is feminine, or negative, and its quadruplicity is mutable. All of these astrological influences is said to make Piscean people idealistic, dreamy, sensitive, compassionate, introverted, receptive, versatile, and restless.

Amazing Amethyst

The ancient Greeks believed that February’s birthstone, amethyst, has the power to prevent intoxication, so, if you are attending a function where it would be rude to refuse an alcoholic drink and you wish to remain sober, wear a piece of amethyst jewelry.

The proceeding information was taken from The Wiccan Books of Days: Observances, Traditions, and Lore for Every Day of the Year by Selena Eilidh Ash.

Blessings!

You could have always brought up the 11 hour and 14 hour rule 🙂 LMAO!

I’m a Pisces; so is my niece. When she was little, she’d say we were “spicies”. As this was BEFORE the Spice Girls, it was cute.

My first son is a Pisces. Interesting assessment…and I can see him in it very much. My youngest son is an Aquarius, my hubby is an Aries and I’m a Scorpio. I suppose I should look all this up one day. Thanks for the welcome. I’d like to read your wife too but didn’t want to appear stalkerish! I just figured I should find some interesting people to read.

Oh…by the way…disregard what I said about the Sandy Creek cowboy caches…they’re in California, not Texas..

I wouldn’t so much call that The Rule of Three if she comes back on you for what you did. You did what you did for the good of yourself and everyone else on the road – that’s just being a good steward of your responsibility as a driver. I’d say that’s just her being spiteful!!

In fact, as I understand The Rule of Three, I would say that your effort to be responsible and safe on the road will come back to you in extra guardianship over you as you do travel. I see The Rule of Three as being akin to The Law of Attraction, and what you did in the choice you made was putting something good/positive out there so it will come back to you in that same form. Also, I’m a Pisces… 🙂
