F*ck it

Quite a while ago, I had decided that I had had enough of the whining and complaining that I saw on a consistent basis on Facebook about Politics. Thanks to the invent of Social Media, the entire population has become the next Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper, or whatever political news anchor you like best…or so they think they have. Not a day goes by when someone on my friends list has a political comment of some sort or another and ALWAYS a complaint against the party that they are not affiliated with! Not one person has anything good to say about their party and their policies, they can only find fault in the oppositions party and policies.

So, I left Facebook and was without it for about a month. During that month, my mother, wife and a few other people kept asking me to look at what such-and-such said on Facebook to which I replied that I was not using Facebook anymore. Oh, the looks and attitude I received for saying that was like a knife in the gut. Like, “OMG, how could you NOT use Facebook?!”

I decided to come back to Facebook and just not participate in the discussions. Unfortunately, the whining and complaining has just gotten worse and, as of a couple of days ago, I had had enough…again. The straw that broke the camel’s back on this one was, in fact, my mother. After watching a number of posts against political figures come across my News Feed, I finally had enough and said something. I got no response from her in the post but a smart ass remark that she didn’t have any part of guilting me back to Facebook. No acknowledgement that what she was doing went against her own request to other to not attack the political parties in her e-mail yet she was willing to do so on Facebook.

I even went as far as to post on Facebook my request to be opted out of seeing these posts and made the request to all people in my friends list. Not one person who responded had anything to say that was remotely like “sure, I can do that. Sorry about that.” No, I got smart ass remarks instead saying “just don’t read it then.” Of course, if it’s in your face 24/7, you’re going to have no choice but to read it.

My mother is not the only person I deal with on this. She is not the reason why, again, I have deactivated my Facebook account, removed all applications from my mobile devices and all instances of Facebook in my password keeper program. She is, however, the catalyst for me doing so. I’ve had enough of listening to the political pandering, bitching and whining that happens on a daily basis.

To make things absolutely clear to any and all people reading this: Politics is not something you discuss around me. The topic alone is beginning to turn me into a raging lunatic and I’m apt to go off that person for supporting a corrupt party that’s bent on doing nothing but getting your vote. Notice I didn’t say WHICH party was like that…it’s because they are BOTH like that.

If you don’t believe me, look at like this: George W. Bush slammed through a 700 million dollar bailout that almost ¾ of the voting nation DID NOT WANT DONE. Barrack Hussein Obama has slammed through a healthcare law that the majority of Americans DID NOT WANT. Tell me that they actually have your interests at heart.

They do?

The FUCK they do!

And I’m fucking done talking politics. Fuck ’em all.

I agree with you. Not about the characters you specifically mention or what they may or may not have done but the idea in general about seeing too many people whining/bashing political policies and figureheads. Your mother was one that I had on Facebook and Open Diary that I quietly unfriended for the exact same reasons you mentioned, another is a long time friend who is still a friend but I skip over his political entries and only read the personal ones for pretty much the same reasons. I’ve unfriended MANY people on Facebook because of outrageously biased political statements or hyprocritical statements or just plain thinly disquised hate of one form or another. Many. I don’t give up on Facebook as a whole…I just unfriend them. I don’t need that in my online life. Good for you K.
