where i’ve been…

So its been awhile. but for good reason. I’ve spent the past few weeks just kinda roaming around Europe for a bit.

The trip included stops in London (this was before the blasts happened, though it was still freaky to think about), Paris, Barcelona, Madrid and Boston. This required alot of flying around and almost missing flights. and oh yes, accepting rides from complete strangers. But I was SO GRATEFUL. because if the woman (and her husband) hadn’t been kind enough to offer me a ride from one terminal to the other while I was england, i’m thinking there’s no way I would’ve made it to the counter to check in on time.

Anyway. My trip was alot of fun. It was complicated by the fact that I seemingly developed a really nasty sinus infection somewhere along the way, and didn’t have any of my medications that would’ve helped clear it up faster. There was also the added problem that while I was england I had met this guy, and things had ended very weirdly between us. so it made me spend alot of time in my head slowly obsessiong about what the hell happened.

Anyway,  I was also traveling with people who were perhaps not interested in the same things that I am when I travel. I’m typically an ultra tourist when I go overseas. I love to see the sights and wander around museums and kinda experience the history of where I’m at. One of my traveling companions had similar goals (though she seems shopping oriented as well) where as the other two traveling peeps were like, lets go experience the culture and the nightlife. While I’m all for this, when you’re sick and not sleeping well, this causes problems cuz you get tired easily. Also, one of the traveling companions was like a kid with ADD, always wandering and being like OH! what’s this? and wandering off.

But it was wonderful. Less than 24 hours in Madrid and Paris unfortunately. But i think it was enough.

After I returned for Europe, I was on a plane the next day up to Boston. I had somehow managed to get (okay, so it was more like waking up at the crack of dawn and getting online ) tickets to the sox/yankees game last saturday. It kicked ass. except that it also sucked cuz they lost. but it was defintiely an experience. it was all gross and hot and humid. i loved it. aftewards, i went to harvard square to the border cafe and met up with 9 of my friends from HS and had yummy food. They brought other friends/significant others, so there wound up being 14 of us total. it was awesome to see everyone again. its been years since i’ve seen some of them, since graduation for others. the next day, i plunked myself down on my friend’s super comfy couch with her copy of harry potter 6 (she was at work so it was all good) and just read. and then when i was pretty much done, another hs friend of mine called me up and we met up for really yummy ice cream.

anyway. when i got back into my routine again, i had been thinking that me and boy from england were totally done and over. just some of the things he had said after the last night we’d spent together didn’t leave me feeling too optimistic for any sort of future or continuing relationship, on any level.. in any case, i shot him a quick email to make sure that he didn’t get hellrificially sick like I did, and to discuss hp 6 (cuz he’s a fan too) and surprisngly, he emailed me back, fairly quickly too. included in that email was an apology for the (and i quote) "weird ass behavior at the end of the other night" and we’ve been emailing pretty regularly since (okay, so its been less then a week) . It’s all very odd and I don’t know quite what to make of it. but i figure i’ll just kinda. wait and see. which sucks. but its the best I can do…

random fact:
In five days, I had flown on 5 different flights (includes all legs of the trip with like, connections and stuff) only ONE of those flights was on time.

Sounds like so much fun! Except for the sick part and for the late flights part. That’s something I’ve discovered about transportation- it’s never on time. My train to Virgina was about two hours late there and back. SO FRUSTRATING.

That is way I goplaces alone because no one seems to want to do the same things that I do. I only found one person that I had a good time going places with and that was my old boss from Ca. We love going to Disneyland together because we can do everything that we want to do in a decent time frame!

Woah more on the English guy please! I feel you on the conflicting travel goals. I’m about to write about it, actually.
