my dad passed away a year ago today

such a simple man he was

simple wants and needs

skin browned by the sun

hands rough from physical labor

language as colorful as the rainbow

and a magnet he was

for he attracted people to him

with the wink of an eye

i was his only child

and i was proud to call him daddy
