canopeners and plastic packages

yesterday i was up early (as usual) but also i was at walmart to purchase a saw like thingie to trim branches off trees.  it is telescopic and can go up to 12 ft i believe.  i see branches rubbing on my roof and that has to go.

so i buy this long pole looking thing and of course it is entombed in that plastic stuff that is impossible to remove.

why do i google things after the fact?????????

anyway im in my shed and trying to dislodge this stuff.  i used needlenose pliers, scissors, razor knive and a lot of swearing and cursing.  i would only work on it about 10 minutes or so because it was about 100 degrees in my shed.  plus i could see me slamming it against the wall and breaking it.

well about every hour or two i would go give it a try.  strain with razor, pull with pliers little pieces at a time.  frustrating!!!

then i see that the saw blade is rivited to the plastic.  a whole other struggle (i thought).  anyway around 6ish yesterday i finally get the last piece of plastic off.  the rivet piece just fell off, thank you!!!

well that branch is so high i cant saw it for nothing.  today i will get a ladder and try it but i fear i dont have the upper body strength for it.

well anyway…the google thing,  use a canopener around the edges of the plastic!!!  why the hell didnt i do this!!  use the kind with the little sharp wheel.  next time i will know.

Sometimes manufactures make the packaging on their products adult proof. Can be very frustrating.

This sounds so familiar I had to grin. Even the smallest things are sealed so tight it’s a major even to ever get them opened. And that’s a big job you’re overtaking…..know any tall and strong men that can do it for you? (You sound like me in my younger years….determined…or is that party stubborn?? :o) Love you, sweet thang

Am familiar with the problem. A good tool for it is sharp scissors or a knife-like razor-blade cutter. Willy of

Seemed to me I remembered a tool for that..so I went looking….. Go here: http://www.zipitopener.com/News+amp+Press+Releases-sp8.html It’s supposed to be pretty good.. Other than that, I’d just give it to Jackie! Love you~ ~M

Take care. And that’s enough proving your stick-to-it-tiveness 🙂

such packaging drives me crazy too….I guess they try to secure things against theft or childrens fingers. Some of that ghastly plastic stuff can be just as sharp though. I have a lot of issues around modersn packaging…in large part because of the environmentdal effect of disposal. There is far too much of it. Glad youg finally managed to sort things but I grinned at your description of it all. Well done. hugs p

a can opener! OMG. of course! and these packages are created to drive us to violence! i am sure of it! so sorry for the long delay in getting back to you. am camping on the back roads and ran out of battery power before i made it back to civilization

You are ever into something, daisy, and I love it!!! A producer now, impressive!!! Lots of love,

What a good idea. I think they should be shot for encasing things in that damn stuff. I’ve cut myself on it trying to get things loose.

oh dear! I smile and think how like me this entry is. I go about things in the most awkward and lengthy ways. Hope the branch is no longer troubling you. Very best, A

how frustrating. i call it ‘disabled-proof packaging.’ that lot sounds as tho it’s able-bodied-proof.
