i met up with some of my old classmates in Grand Isle for our christmas party, that was in late January.  We’ve decided that December was just too busy a time for most of us.  We bring a 25$ gift and we pull names at that point to exchange gifts.

this year i didnt know what to get so i went to walmart and got a gift card.  heck we are a bunch of olds ladies that have probably all we need.   when we were pulling names i noticed one of my classmates purposely didnt want the gift she had but wanted the gift i had brought.  so at the end of all this we can steal from others.  i never steal i just keep whatever is given to me.  well this classmate stole the gift because it was money.  now i know she lost her hubby at a young age and she was rearing a great grandchild with diabetes.  she mentioned she was going to buy herself a new nightgown.  i told her to let me know if there was a problem with the card because they had processed it so quickly i was scared it wouldnt work.

after a few days she does call me.   she said i just wanted to tell you that it did work.   oh great i said, did you get yourself that nightgown?  she responded she didnt she had used half for groceries.

well i hung up and looked at susie and said ive got some cash in my wallet and im going to bring that to her.  what kind of groceries can you purchase for 12 damn dollars????   i had 100$ in my wallet and susie had 40$.  we drove the 15 minutes to her home and said you cant buy anything for 12$.  this might help.  she cried.  she had had to pay insurances this month and she was short.  we have since helped again. she calls us her guardian angels.

we never know who is in trouble financially.  Older people like me and her…well social security helps but it makes things very tight.  you need to be careful with finances.  im lucky that i have what i need to live on.

the moral?  help someone if you can.
