Random Book part
Well seems everyone would like to read a few random moments in my book so here is one.
Meath watched as the sentry stalked within a stones throw behind Ursa and Nicolette. He was camouflaged fully from head to toe and blended well with his surroundings, which was why they did not see him before. His steps were precise and swift as he closed the gap on his targets. He held a crossbow steadily in his hands, a bolt locked and loaded as he tried to get a clear shot, but he was still too far off. At his side was a short sword and several large throwing knifes.
Meath slowly moved in behind the sentry, almost mocking his enemies every movement. He knew he had to be quick and accurate in his attack, he had to kill him silently so he would not have a chance to make any sound and alert the others.
The sentry stopped again and began to take aim and Meath knew he had only heartbeats to act. He sprung forward at full speed his sword aimed for the sentries heart. He lunged forward for the kill but the sentry rolled off to the side in a burst of speed. Meath then realized he had been baited; the sentry had always known he was behind him. Meath tried to recover his steps but he was already too far committed to stop, and he plummeted down in a sideways roll coming up on his knees. He turned just in time to see the sentry levelling his crossbow for his chest. Instinctually, Meath released his Gift and flames consumed the crossbows cord before he could pull the trigger and it snapped loudly, licking the sentries face deep but if he felt it, it did not show.
The sentry exploded forward, daggers emerging out of nowhere in his hands. Meath could not rise to his feet before the sentry was on him. Daggers flashed and sliced frantically trying to bite into Meaths flesh. Meath fell backward, barely avoiding his throat being slashed by the wild violent swings. He kicked his feet hard, smashing into the enemys knees tripping him forward. Meath got one of his legs up fast enough and slammed it as hard as he could into the sentries chest, cracking ribs and knocking the wind from his lungs while launching him backward.
Meath was on his feet and on top of the sentry, raining fists down hard before he had a chance to recuperate, dazing the man even further. For a split second from the corner of his eye, Meath saw the glint of light reflecting off steel. But before he could act, the blade bit into his shoulder. His hand wrenched the knife from his shoulder and he stabbed down immediately hoping to end one of his threats. The sentry had regained his senses and grabbed a hold of Meaths hands halting the attack. Meath pushed down with all his weight trying to overpower him, but the sentry held strong. Meath knew he had only moments before the other sentry was upon him and then he would be in a dilemma. He forced his Gift into the dagger heating it to blistering temperature within an instant until the sentry could not take it any longer. The dagger pierced through his heart scorching and blackening the skin around the immediately fatal wound with a pungent hiss.
Before Meath could react, the other sentry exploded from the overgrowth. His foot connected solid with Meaths ribs, hurling him off the dead man and into the truck of a tree. Meath coughed and gasped desperately for air as he tried to push himself up so he could defend himself before it was hopeless. He turned his head so he could see the next attack and was surprised at what he saw. The sentry was standing there crossbow levelled, the kill there for the taking at any moment.
Tell me it is not true Meath, The sentry said, his posture softening only slightly.
What? Meath coughed out agonizingly, not comprehending what was happening and why he recognized the voice.
Tell me the rumours are not true Meath! Tell me you did not kill the King and kidnap the Princess! He cried out frustrated. Tell me so I do not have to kill the man who once saved my life! At once Meath knew who the sentry was.
Hey this is pretty good, i like it.
