Evil Grin

I went back outside last night and completed exactly one task before I was denied the product at the second place and met with an evil grin. That was after being told I couldn’t pick it up in store and had to go through the jam-packed DT line. I sat there for like 15 minutes, only to have the person grin at me as they told me the items “weren’t there”. Mind you, I was only going to muster up $5 for the darn thing. Desperate times.

I was routed to a PU location 6 miles away instead of the one that was nearby, too. SMH.

I don’t see that particular grin on a lot of people, but a few times it’s been on people I thought were ok. It’s a chilling grin that makes you aware that something or someone finds pleasure in your hard times, pain, or inconvenience.  I’ve only seen it a handful of times in my life, but it’s indicative of a dark presence. It’s very distinct and apparently has “traveling” abilities.

By that time, I was irritated because I had gone through the same thing earlier that day, being routed away from a close by location to a much further location only to be told that they “didn’t have the items or the order.”

I had zero money left, and I needed the transaction to pay for gas. So I was irritated and a bit tired of the games and dishonesty. As I said before, there has been a huge decrease in empathy and increase in cruelty in human beings overall. I’m not really used to it. I would say that most of my years of working, whether it has been on gigs or regular jobs, have been good to great. It’s only recently that things have taken a turn for the absolute worst. I still believe that the year 2020 was the beginning of something very ugly.

No job or gig has ever been perfect, but there used to be way fewer troublesome characters and much less societal and corporate tolerance of certain things. I have a hard time dealing with the current state of humanity and the flip-flop in what people believe is right and wrong and good and bad sometimes.

Sooo … there’s no escaping troublesome characters, right? They’ll be doing the same things whether I’m in a gig or regular job, correct? I’m still going to be targeted and treated differently from most other people, yes? The evil grins will still show up, no matter where I’m at, right?

Great. That means I should be able to reside and work where I want then. Since there is no difference in the things I’ll experience in this world, I should be where I want to be. That’s living right here where I’ve been living and working for a place that at least has an honorable mission statement.

By “honorable” I mean that the statement itself is positive and helpful to all “the little people” and the company has shown for many years that they stand by that statement.

Some companies have a mission statement that sounds okay (not even great, just “okay”), but it’s not their true mission or intention at all. Others actually align with their statement and have a long-ass proven track record of doing so.

Have a blessed day.
