ALGOWARS: The Gritty New Work System Game

*Written last night*

It was good today indeed. Good that it ended, lol. I always get pushback from the “forces” whenever I write or say certain things. But the same occurs when I don’t, so I figure I might as well go ahead and scribble my truth. I think it’s better to get your ass kicked for something rather than nothing.

It was effing brutal. I got put through the meat grinder from the very second I went out to the last hour. They beat the sh!t out of my car, and I had to play ALGOWARS against various anonymous business individuals on the other side of the app. It was literally like a video game setup, except it’s my real life they play against, and I’m fighting to survive.

Here’s how ALGOWARS works:

One company offers login access to a “game” so that various business’ customers can get things done by me and others like me. Rightly so, that company takes a cut for this service. That’s supposed to be the extent of the relationship between that company and us “workers,” but that’s a whole other story.

We also have no relationship with the various businesses outside of providing those third-party services to their customers.

The system is supposed to work smoothly to where the various business’ customers get everything they need, those businesses keep making money, we get to have a happy meal every now and then, and the other company gets their billions for providing  the connection.

But for me, it no longer works well because other players have entered the game to play against me. They shouldn’t be legally allowed to play against me in these ways, but nobody here will stop them.

These new “players” adjust the offers I receive according to factors such as:

  • Whether they like me personally and feel like I deserve it for my work (most don’t for whatever reason)
  • Whether the amounts match what I’d earn at a 9 to 5 (that shouldn’t matter because it isn’t a 9 to 5)
  • Whether I’ve personally worked for them or applied and how that worked out
  • Whether my income could possibly be more than theirs (it’s definitely not)
  • Whether I have the ability to pay my bills (some don’t want me to)
  • Whether they’ve teamed up with other parties who wish to see me down and out

These “players” don’t factor in personal equipment, time, or effort. They just know they don’t want me to have anything good from what’s offered. If it’s “too much” in their eyes, it gets canceled, adjusted, or I don’t ever see it.

So yeah, it’s a power and control thing that shouldn’t be happening, but such is life in the Twilight Zone.

I gave ALGOWARS a good run for its money, though. It did show me some sweet stuff once, but that was after getting pissed off and just jamming buttons in odd sequences, lol. Unfortunately, what I saw during that moment wasn’t sweet enough. It wasn’t enough for a likely round trip and/or wasn’t enough for the effort involved. These people know this.

I need $25/hr. Plain and simple. I’m single and I struggle horribly and have to do things on the side if I’m making anything less than that. I can work a full-time job that pays that or a combo of side work and job. There will always have to be some sort of a combo if no one can offer what I need.

It’s what I need, and that’s all I can say. It might sound too high “for the likes of me” or whatever, but it’s what I require to maintain things. I need that plus very little stress, respect of my day of worship, and ZERO abuse. Wish me luck on finding a situation like that in this world. I’ll try to maintain a positive outlook, but …
