News on the Pregnancy

So, I’m assumed to be about 11 weeks along by my midwife’s calculations, 12 by mine.  The baby’s heart rate sounds great for that time period, right where they should be.  Everything looks good.  I’m doing okay for my first trimester.  My symptoms aren’t killing me, except for the fatigue.  I’m completely drained all the time.  However, all is not perfect in paradise.  My measurements show me to be 16 weeks pregnant.  My uterus measures 4-5 weeks further along than it should be.

No big deal, right?  This is all just normal.  Things like this happen all the time.  I was sure everything is normal.  However, the thought struck me while she was talking about how the heartrate didn’t match for a 16 week pregnancy, what if it’s twins?  What if there’s two babies, not just one?  That would make sense of the discrepency.

What’s the first thing I did when I got home?  Research.  I checked out the data on twins.  I’ve been getting hit with the hormones something severe, worse than any other pregnancy to date.  I’ve been so exhausted I practically haven’t been able to do anything.  I’m hungrier than I was with either of the other two.  I had some pretty nasty morning sickness.  I’ve gained more weight than I should.  My measurements are larger than they should be for my dates.  In general, something’s off.

So the midwife suggested an ultrasound.  They’re having an ultrasound day at the birth center on the 29th.  It would mean they could get a more accurate age for the baby and make sure everything is okay.  She just wants to have firm dates on this one.  I’ve decided I’m going to do it.  I need to know what the deal is here.  What if it is twins?  I’d really rather know.  I won’t be able to find out the gender, but that’s okay.  It can be a surprise baby.  I just want to make sure everything’s okay.

Speaking of tired, I’m exhausted.  I think I’m going to lay down.

Congratulations on your Pregnancy 🙂

Good luck! I would love the chance to have twins, I could imagine the trouble I would have with that having lost two boys to IC as is. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Wow, two more to add to the two you have? You’d have yourself a handful.

I’m glad that you are getting the ultrasound just to make sure that everything is ok. Twins huh…. interesting. I can’t wait to hear about how the ultrasound goes 🙂
