Feeling Productive

I’ve actually gotten a lot done today.  My house is slightly cleaner.  There’s still a long way to go.  Who am I kidding?  It still looks like a war zone in here!  However, the damage from the last nearly two months of me slackign off is slowly being fought back.  I can see my floor again!  Okay, it wasn’t that bad, but it almost was.  The other day Beekee went nuts with the goldfish and pretzels.  I was just FAR too tired to clean them up from his every hiding place.  I got the big messes, but there were a lot of stealth snacks still stashed about.  However, the random bags from eating out and shopping trips are mostly gone.  My stack of water bottles and dirty glasses at my desk have been cleared away.  Most of my sewing projects that have been pulled out as of late have been tucked mostly neatly in one corner with a small stack of clutter on my desk.  My CDs for shows and my CD sleeves are tucked into the bookshelf next to the computer desk.  It’s somewhat organized!  I’m getting there.  If I keep at it about as much as I did today, the house will be clean in no time!

Today I finished my hair pieces for my blue and purple tribal costume.  I sat at the kitchen table for a couple hours going crazy with barrets, flowers, and a hot glue gun!  The only thing I’m concerned about is that the finished product is kind of big.  I’ll have to post a picture later.  The only thing I dont’ like is it doesn’t cover the little tuft of hair from pulling my hair back into a ponytail.  I wish my hair were longer!  Then I could just sweep it back into a bun or something to get it out of the way!  Oh well.  My hair has plenty of time to grow.  Now I just need to decorate a headband and my hair will be complete for my next show!

That reminds me (I’m going to do this occasionally…productive moods lead to brainstorming and self-reminders…), I need to pick up some more black eyeliner or khol.  Actually, I think I need both.  I’ll need some blue eyeshadow too, the same kind as that purple I have.  I’ve got this idea for tribal make-up at my next show, but I’ve got to get more supplies.

My blue and purple costume is almost perfect!  I tried it on when it got here.  I need to sew the elastic on the pantaloons, but aside from that, everything was better than I expected.  I knew I was going to have to sew the elastic though.  They do that for a custom fit.  I think it’s a great idea.  However, recent discussions on Tribe have gotten me thinking about my costume.  It’s a very amateur costume, unfortunately.  The unadorned choli and hip scarf kind of lead it to have an unfinished look.It wouldn’t take much to dress it up and make it look professional.  Layer a tassel belt over the hip shawl and that will look perfect, especially if I hang the tassels to mirror the shape of the shawl.  I’ve even got a belt around here somewhere that would be perfect.  It just needs a couple tassels made and attached.  Then there’s the bra.  I could probably create some sort of tassel bra that would work for the occasion, but I’d need to work at it.  I’m thinking the next time I have the money, I’m just going to order myself a coin bra and be done with it.  It saves me the hassle, looks professional, and will last me for years to come.  I might just end up going with slightly less professional, but significantly cheaper one from ebay.  I don’t know.  However, I know that’s one project I just don’t want to do.  After the bra I’m working on, I’m not up for starting another!  I thought I would be, but I’m not.  I also need to get a whole bunch of jewelry.  That’s going to take a while and an investment too.  Still, it’s all business.  As long as I’m making that money back, I could care less.  Oh well.  It’s a work in progress.  I’ll get there eventually.  For the time being, I’ll work with what I’ve got and continue to build my wardrobe as I can.

I’m also geared up for the making of Waldorf dolls.  Beekee has had a big thing with baby dolls and stuffed animals.  I’m going to make him another doll.  He wants something big, his sized, to carry around.  I’m going to make him one with floppy legs like Baby.  He’ll like that.  He’s been taking Corde’s lamb, Baby, everywhere with him.  His favorite thing to say is baby and his favorite toys are ones he thinks are babies.  He’s going through a real baby phase.  Corde’s even said she’ll teach him all about babies.  So I’m going to make him a doll.  The pattern came with material for clothes too, so his doll won’t be naked!  This will be a first!  Althea never got clothes.  She wears some of Corde’s old baby dresses that have managed to survive the purge.  I’m actually excited about making another doll.  Now I just need to actually do it!

Then there’s the garage sale coming up.  The birth center is holding a sale to support local birth center programs.  I’m going to go through all of Corde’s toys again to filter out anything we don’t want anymore.  There’s just too much stuff in her room.  She doesn’t need that many toys!  If I can donate them to a good cause that I believe in, then all the better.  It’s also a good excuse to go through all that extra stuff again.  We need a serious purge around this house.  For years I’ve been talking about how we’ve just got too much stuff.  This is a perfect opportunity to get rid of it all!  I can’t wait to drop it all off at the birth center!  It will feel so good to see that stuff out of my house.  It will feel so good to have more room for stuff in my house again!  It’s actually going to feel more like a home!

Anyhow, it’s late.  I’ve got a lot of stuff to do tomorrow.  I’ll write more tomorrow…
