Spring, The Masters, and Modular Resets

One Day at a Time

The greenery has really filled out now. Even the Oak trees are well on their way (leaves). Flowers have started to wilt though. I noticed today that the azaleas in the yard seem to have lost their splendor, rather suddenly. It didn’t help that they were baked by 88 degree temperature and high humidity today. But it’s time, I guess. Such is the cycle of the seasons . . . it will continue unabated. By this time next month, 88 degrees and humidity just may be a regular occurrence, unlike now, it’s of course significantly warmer than average. Spring . . . low of 39, high of 88, all in one week.

The Masters Golf Tournament is held here in my city once a year, and this past week/weekend was the week. I always like to get out and about town to see what’s going on (it’s like one big party and it’s the one time a year that my city is actually on the map, also the possibility of celebrity sightings is cool). Also fun . . . seeing how far people drive to patronize the tournament . . . licence plates from all over. I couldn’t get into it this year really, because work has me whipped. Absolutely whipped. And I don’t think it’s as much the hours (40 hours, although this is some of it), but I think it’s the times (all of them day shifts, so not getting enough sleep at night having to wake up at 6AM when I’m used to going to bed well after midnight, too tired to run/workout or do anything when I get home). I don’t mean to complain. It is what it is. It will even out. I’ve just finished 4 full shift work days in a row and I have two to go (Mon and Tue), and I will get Wed off.

All this not to mention work is crazy right now because it’s time for all the Spring modular resets. The biggest thing is the TV wall change. The whole TV wall . . . all 40 or so TVs on there, are either changing position or coming down (and we are in the process of trying to sell the displays which is a bitch because the back bins are so disorganized that it’s hard to find the paperwork/remote/stand that goes with each TV. Customers get tired of waiting, and I get tired of looking for something that’s impossible to find. But, it’s sold "as is", thus the markdown, 20% off.

So, due to these things, I have been very bad about reading and writing in here lately. Full time is crazier than I thought it would be, yet very necessary if I am to earn my keep, take advantage of all the associated benefits, and possibly advance. I will catch up eventually on noting, writing, sleeping, and perhaps even running. But for now, it is what it is. That’s life. I won’t whine about it.
