TGIF
I’m glad it’s friday. I need time away from work. I must say that it suddenly is starting to look like Spring outside. When I went out the door to work I realized that grass that just days before was brown is now green. A beautiful fresh green that speaks of new life. Amazing how it sneaks up on you.
I watched some of Pope John Paul’s funeral today. It started at 4:30 this morning our time. I wasn’t up then. I woke up around 5:30. What I saw really touched me in a way I am not used to being touched. There were maybe a million people there. Some had flags from their countries and they were waving them. As Mass was said there was singing and chanting. What really moved me was at the end when the pallbearers were taking the casket into the Basilica for interment. They stopped before entering the building, turned around, lowered the casket a little facing the crowd. The people were chanting, “Giovanni Paulo” (John Paul) over and over, some were applauding and bells were ringing. It took my emotional breath away. You just knew a great man had left us.
Now, Prince Charles gets married tomorrow. Prince Rainer’s funeral is next Friday according to the newspaper.
I must get outside tomorrow if it isn’t raining. I must breath some fresh air and feel the sun in my face.
Weaving Rainbows
I like to take rainbows
thick strands of red and blue,
thin silky greens and yellows
weave them together
each hue overlapping the next
in a long shimmering braid
that hangs down
the back of the day
or wrap pieces of it around
the trunks of the trees
and watch as it
undulates in the breeze
sending sparks of color
into the air.
Rainbow Weaver……..Goodnight !
