Spring Sunday

It has been absolutely beautiful today.  Everywhere I go I see Magnolias, azaleas and cherry trees in bloom. Went by a lake today that was filled with swans. Also turtles. There was one spot where they could come out of the water to sun themselves and they covered this log or rock (so many turtles on it I couldn’t tell what it was). There simply wasn’t room for the entire turtle population of the lake on that one place. As a result you could see turtle heads sticking up in the water. Lots of them. I was amazed.

I watched some little kids play soccer yesterday. At best it was semi-organized sports. Sometimes the little ones had to be told to go after and kick the ball. They were so cute. They were 3,4 and 5 year olds. At least they are learning to play together and some sportsmanship and hopefully they will  learn how to play soccer along the way.

If anyone has suggestions on how to get rid of carpenter bees I like to hear them. I wouldn’t mind the bees so much, but they eat into our outdoor furniture. The furniture is redwood. Also if anyone knows any tricks to keep groundhogs away from the garden and my flowers I’d be obliged.

Grass

suddenly

emerald green,

the scent

of hyacinths and lilac

clings to everything

like morning dew,

turtles compete

for a spot of sun,

a swan sits on her nest

fishing boats

close  enough

to send waves

that lap and swirl

around her.

Spring

does its dance

of life.

Your poem is just lovely!! So fitting for these beautiful Spring days. We’re having a bit of stormy weather but still…I love Spring. Sorry I don’t know anything about the bees (well, maybe the birds and bees)…Good luck and hugs…
