So I had an interesting day. Not a bad day, actually a pretty good day, just a really interesting day.

It started out that this morning my alarm on my phone went off and I kept hitting snooze. Not because I was really tired or anything but rather I think the cough medicine was tweaking me out…I mean I was having the singularly most bizarre-o dreams that I can ever remember having. And damnit I wanted to find out how it all ended. Which I didn’t. 🙁 So I spent most of the morning and afternoon writing this freaky dream out because it’s really good, original stuff. Well, around noon, 1pm my aunt and my god-sister come over. We hang out, have a third Christmas (yes, we have multiple Christmases each time new people arrive), and then my mom starts talking about returned these shirts that someone bought my brother that are too big and beside which he would never wear anyway. So my aunt says "I’m heading to the store now, why don’t you come with me and we’ll go ahead and exchange them?" Well after much discussion it’s decided we won’t exchange them because my step-dad can and will wear the shirts in question. Instead my aunt offers to buy new ones for my brother to replace them and my mum will just pay her back.

So auntie and I drive down to the mall and walk around Belk’s where she proceeds to buy a whole bunch of stuff, including stuff for me (which is a sort of tradition although this year I made sure to stay small, I only got two ornaments I think, which were on sale anyway). Well we get out of Belk’s and put our stuff in the car and then walk over to my store where we buy a few more things. Then we go to Taco Bell and get some lunch, come back to the house and eat. My aunt and god-sister leave to go back to my grandfather’s and my mother leaves at the same time to go to work. I had to be at work a few hours later so I went back in the house and got in the shower and got dressed.

Apparently at some point (most likely while I was showering) my aunt was trying to call the house and no one was answering. Finally she called my cell and said "I don’t want you to worry and I don’t want you to tell your step-dad but your mom and I were in a car accident."

First thing I thought was they had hit each other somehow since they were in two separate cars. No. It turns out my aunt had gone to pull out of our neighborhood (and by now it was dark) and this 17-year-old girl pulls a Speedy Gonzalez around a car without her headlights on in a 25 mph zone. She nails the front passenger side of my aunt’s explorer. My aunt is sitting there, taking count of fingers and toes and of course my 7-year-old god-sister is in the backseat crying because she just had the bejeebus scared out of her! Well some very intelligent guy must have been also speeding and not paying attention because he almost t-boned into my aunt’s side of the car. To keep that from happening my aunt hits reverse. In doing so she knocks into my mum’s car which is still behind her.

….

Yeah. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to laugh at them or go find this stupid cop that said to my aunt "Ma’am you should have yielded but I’ll let you off with a warning." My aunt was pulling out when some Speed Racer-wannabe guns out from behind another car, with NO headlights AFTER SUNDOWN. Then some other genius almost t-bones her because either he can’t see her (How you miss a giant Ford Explorer in the middle of the road I don’t know!) or because he can’t stop in time. Again, this is in a 25mph shopping zone…It’s not Indy 500 guys, it’s not even the interstate!!! No one should be going so fast they can’t stop. And you are by LAW supposed to have your headlights on after the sun starts going down, particularly on a rainy, dreary day when there ISN’T ANY SUN!!!!! I understand you’re coming out of a fairly well-lit parking lot but that’s no excuse!! And then this little genius teenager says to my aunt "It sucks because I just got that fixed from my last accident too."

Please just let me shoot them all…please, I’m begging you!!! Stupidity like this shouldn’t be allowed to exist, please let me stop them from making more of them. >_<
