TGIF
So I feel like an official member of Big Girl World, which is a saying a lot. I caught up on my student loan payments. Everything is now done until February when the cycle starts all over again. This really isn’t a huge accomplishment, I’ve been paying bills on time for over a year now thanks to the credit card and the cell phone and school and all that junk. But because of the huge amount of each bill (last one was $160 today) I feel much more accomplished. Because car payments are big and I expect to have one of those soon, it’s on the 2 year plan. Yes I am adopting a 2 year plan. I have decided I put way too much pressure on myself to be perfect and to be where I see so many people my age are at. The reality is that my life has gone down a different track then theirs did, I can’t hold myself to that standard. I can’t keep judging the worth of my life based on comparisons to other people’s lives. End of story. I will give myself high blood pressure (if I don’t already have it).
I had a weird dream last night. Quinn and I and my family were at this function, it seemed school-related but I’m not sure. I remember we were at this huge dinner but that’s about it. My family was there and we were all sitting down to dinner but it was this buffet style kind of thing. Quinn was sitting next to me and he turned and said something to me and then he pushed back his chair and got down on one knee and proposed. It was a beautiful ring, either white-gold or silver, maybe platinum with a big diamond in the center and 2 or 3 smaller diamonds on the band on either side. Of course I said yes and was totally ecstatic. My family was torn, some were yelling, some were cheering. It was really weird. Not sure yet what to make of it. But it was so real that I actually looked at my finger first thing when I woke up today to make sure I didn’t have a ring on it.
I got to keep my job at BBY in other news. And I’ll be getting more hours at CVS soon since 2 of our techs go back to college next week or the week after, something like that. Training is going smoothly. My last training class is February 1. Then in May I get to register for the Tech Exam but I’m already looking at study guides for it. They’re EXPENSIVE!!! The cheapest one I could find (which was really more of a mini-quiz book than a study guide) was $50!!!! I couldn’t believe it. So I’m going to start perusing Amazon to see if I can find the same guides on there for less, hopefully with the CD guides still in them. I only get 1 free shot at the National Tech Exam and it’s $150 to take the dumb thing, I want to get it the first time go-round.
I’m also looking at insurance. CVS has a limited benefit program for part-timers but it’s not going to be enough since I want to get my tonsils removed. They do nothing but cause me health issues. That’s more than the $1500 that I’d get through CVS. So I’ve requested some info from Anthem which has an individual plan that’s around $130/month. Once I get the info I’ll sit down and look it over and maybe ask momster and the aunt for advice. But I really need health insurance, dental and vision too. I have contacts. I think I need a filling if not 2. I also need to start going back to the chiropractor if at all possible. Augh. It’s a lot that I need health insurance for basically. Plus God forbid I get sick and need antibiotics or something. Or if I break a limb or some other awful thing. (Knock on wood)
Ok, time to go and get back to my chores. Have to work on my brother’s laptop because apparently my family is completely incompetent. Then taking my car back to the shop, probably not for the last time, but maybe if it is the head gasket (which is also FREAKING EXPENSIVE!!!) and they do fix it then maybe for the last time. I also have to put together my 2-year plan poster. Yes I’m making a poster, well, maybe not a poster. I’m thinking of getting a push-pin board and putting it up on the closet door and maybe making that my 2-year plan area. haha. Ok, well, that’s it for now. Want to get it all done before Quinn comes down after work.
