Just fine
Florida was fun. It was my first time seeing my moms’ new place and it’s actually quite nice. Definitely a big difference from their home in Boston, which is about to be my home, or at least the home I live in. I don’t think I’m really ready for or interested in home ownership. The concept of owning a home inside a nude resort is very interesting. They have all the typical benefits of owning private property, but they also have full-time access to everything in the resort. We spend some time enjoying the pool at the house, but we also ventured out and used the pools and tennis courts of the resort. The weather was perfect and I was sad we only really spent a little more than 24 hours there before returning to real life in Boston.
This is the house and pool.
Graduation is tomorrow and I have been obsessing all week about how to dress. Cindy had asked me to go shopping with her on Wednesday but she wanted to go to Target and I wasn’t expecting to find any decent clothes there. But I browsed and tried a few things on and actually settled on a casual dress. I’ll put on some nice shoes (which will really be the only part of me that anyone will see) and I think it will be fine.
Sorry for the mirror. I’m even more sorry that I’m looking at the camera instead of at the mirror. Not a great shot but it shows the dress just fine.
Cindy and I got into an argument on the shopping trip because she always complains that her clothes don’t last very long. I told her it’s because she buys them at Target. I have nothing against Target, but you get what you pay for and you’re really better off spending a little more on clothes. She was shopping for bras and was picking out these $10 things that were pretty much guaranteed to fall apart in the washing machine. When I said that to her she responded that she has two kids and can’t afford to buy $100 bras.
It’s a fair point, but I wanted to be helpful. I told her were could go over to a better store, probably find some decent $50 bras and I would even split them with her. Call it a late mothers day gift. That just made her angry, though I’m not quite sure why, and she started telling me she didn’t need my pity. She said she would buy the $10 bras and they would work just fine for her.
Perhaps I shouldn’t have said this, but I responded that I was going to go out some day and surprise her with some nice bras so she could see the difference. She came back with a profanity-laced speech right there in Target. "Do you think I enjoy being fucking poor? Do you have to always rub it in my face that you have nicer fucking things than me?"
She didn’t talk to me for the rest of the night. I had planned to go inside when I dropped her off so I could say hi to my nieces, but I didn’t feel welcome. I’m don’t really agree with her attitude, but I’m sorry I made her feel bad. I’m not really doing that much better than she is. I work two jobs and my husband works. I guess we just have more discretionary income since we don’t have kids. I never wanted to seem like I was bragging about that. I was trying to be helpful.
The next morning I got a text from her: "sorry. i’ve been really frustrated lately and I took it out on you"
After all that, I’m going to my graduation in a $35 Target dress.
I always say it doesn’t pay to buy cheap shit. Because you have to buy it again and again and again. If you buy quality goods, they last. And then you save money.

You can get nice victorias secret bras for pretty cheap if you buy them online instead of in store. I am really busty so I can’t go into the cute shops and get the cute ones that generally stop at a c cup. Anyway for the discounts I generally visit the store in house to make sure i have the right fit with some ugly beige one and then get 2-3 cute ones for the same price online.

But you’re so right, that Target and Old Navy shit lasts one or two washes and then you have to pitch it. I am an insufferable clothes snob, but I have shirts that are 10+ years old, bitches, so there!

I used to buy mostly from Kohl’s etc but once I started buying from VS I’ve never gone back. The quality is incomparable. You just have to buy wisely if you’re on a budget – get on their mailing list for coupons, get an Angels card if you can, shop sales and special offers. I never pay full price unless it’s a REALLY special occasion.
