And all that

I’m pretty excited.  Guy and I have planned a vacation together, just the two of us.  We’ve never done that before.  It’s about four weeks away still but I’m really looking forward to it.  We’re taking a random road trip to the Grand Canyon.  We have a whole trip planned out which involves a stop in St. Louis and one in Amarillo, Texas.  We are taking a rented car and then flying home.  It’s overly complicated and I love it.  I wish we were leaving tomorrow.

I was always accustomed to taking several vacations a year.  This is really the first year when we’re trying to be more financially independent, even though we’re really not even close to that.  So we have been saving money to go on vacation instead of just inviting ourselves along with my moms or something.

I’ve never been to the Grand Canyon, though I really don’t think I’m going to be that interested in it.  The voyage is the destination, as they say.  

Not much else going on.  We had some extremely hot weather for a while and the pool was packed.  Lifeguarding there really is just people watching.  And I enjoy being paid to people watch.  

The baby is sleeping through the night more and more.  Cindy and I sometimes stay up late talking or watching movies with the baby monitor nearby.  It seems like such a strangely domestic thing.  It makes me feel grown up and mature and all that.  I’m not sure I like it.
