Prompt me to NoJoMo…

So I’m doing one of the prompts today and I kind of did one in my last entry.  lol  I started off not doing it but then I just kind of went with it because I didn’t have anything else to really write about.  Well I have things to write about but not stuff I want to post in a public entry in a diary circle where anyone and everyone could read it.  So onto today’s prompt so I can get an entry up for today.

1. If you could do anything with your life, what would you do? What is stopping you from making it happen?

I think if I could do anything with my life I’d like to write stories as well as doing something that I could use my creative side.  Whether it’s decorating things or creating parties…anything that I can really just be creative with the ideas.  As for what’s stopping me…probably the fact that both of those are a little risky in terms of making a career out of them.  Writing isn’t an easy industry to be a success in.  First you need to find a company that is willing to publish your books.  But even if you find that you still have to hope people want to buy your books and read what you write.  If you don’t have people willing to buy your work than it doesn’t matter if you’re able to land the publisher.  You gotta sell to make money.  The other thing is the fact I don’t think I could come up with stories often enough to make it a career.  Sure I enjoy writing.  Sure I come up with ideas here and there but not often enough to make full books out of them.  At least not good enough ideas.

So that all ties back into the fact that it’s a risky career.  When you want to get into fields that are about being creative like writing or music or such you either have to be willing to suffer and struggle till you make it or you have to have some way to survive (ie pay bills, buy food, etc) while you do something you enjoy on the side (ie the writing, music, art, etc).  Even some of the more known people in those fields had to pay their dues to get there.  And look at how many times someone writes a hit book but then can’t recreate that magic.  Okay cutting this short but I’ll finish it up later.
