The Te of Piglet
Animal so shy and small,
Dreaming you were Bold and Tall-
You hesitate, all sensitive,
Waiting for a chance to Live.
Time is swift, it races by;
Opportunities are born and die…
Still you wait and will not try-
A bird with wings who dares not
rise and fly.
But that You you want to see
Is not you, and will never be.
No one else will ever do
The special things that wait
inside of you.
You can be a guiding star,
if you make the most of Who You Are.
And the sensitivity
That you’re now ashamed to see
Can be developed even more,
So you can find the hidden doors
To places no one’s been before.
And the pride you’ll feel inside
Is not the kind that makes you fell-
It’s the kind that recognizes
The bigness found in being Small
I think that this poem/song is so beautiful. It comes from Benjamin Hoff’s book, “The Te of Piglet.” It is sort of a sequel to “The Tao of Pooh.” I think that there is maybe a lot to Taoism that should be brought more into the light. I have just started looking at it and I find it very similar to the beliefs I already have about God and Nature. So, we will see. So far, I like it. But Piglet has always been my favorite “Pooh” character, and I was so excited to see that he has a book devoted to him. I mean, everyone always chooses Pooh, or Tigger, or Eeyore as their favorites. But mine has always been Piglet. When I was little I would call him “Piget.” In fact, it kinda stuck so I still call him that. (Though not so much in public. lol)
