In about an hour Brett, Paul, and I are heading out to do some more field research.  We’re heading out about an hour and half north of here, but I have absolutely no idea when we’ll be back.  Most likely we’ll be returning Saturday around 6:30pm.  Anyways, we’re going to get some work done and hopefully get this whole thing finished sooner than later.

I think I’ve come to the decision that there is middle ground between moving on past someone and remaining optimistic that all will clear and get back to normal.  Honestly, everyone is going to make their own decisions, and in Beth’s particular situation, she’s going to do whatever she feels is best for her.  This I can certainly accept and respect.  Eventually you just have to stop beating on the closed door when no one is answering, walk away, and just remember that the person behind that door does know who you are and where you are.  I’ve said what I need to say, and I’ve made it clear that I’m always going to be here for her, but I guess the ball is really just in her court now.

Anyways, moving on from the more depressing thoughts, it turns out that I am not going to get the job for the transportation department.  Yeah, i know i just said we’d be moving on to less depressing thoughts, but the good news here is that they’re still going to have the offer on the table when school is out and I have had more GIS experience under my belt.  The department was pleased and happy with the proposal I made and they were certainly impressed with the presentation, but they explained to me that before they commit to paying me for this job, they would like to see me get some more experience…expperience I will be gaining with the recent project I am working on and the classes I will be taking over these two semesters.  The other factor in their decision was that even though they have the proposal now, they’re actually planning a website overhaul this coming summer, and if I do the work then, this project along with their overhaul will be right in line with one another.  Personally, I think this makes a lot of sense for them.  So, all is not lost and I will be looking forward to working with the department this coming summer.

Well, I’d write more, but I’ve got to get packed.  Ciao.
