Beeness

So a bee got pissed off at me for no apparent reason today.  A HUGE one at that.  The darn thing practically bit my foot off.  There there’s the huge snake that wasn’t too happy that I stepped into his territory.  What a day…

…and yes, bees bite.  Because I said so.

It turns out I’m not going to St. Louis this week.  The hassle of arranging transportation and the money involved just became too tedious.  Kali seemed pretty disappointed, but Ryan and I will get another chance to torture Paul one of these days.  Well… it’ll be limited torture.  I promised Kali I’d be nice.  My intentions are to keep that promise as well.  Oh well… I guess the "good" big brother has to show up eventually.

Brett and I covered about 400 meters of data collection today.  I swear, the days are getting longer and longer.  My skin is starting to tan nicely.  This SPF 60 stuff really works.  I think I’ve given up wearing my sport sandals as well.  I just can’t maneuver through the water as well.  I’ll just wear a pair of my crappy tennis shoes tomorrow.  We have a LOT of work ahead of us.  We’re supposed to get about 3 kilometers more of data at Hinkson… then it’s off to St. Charles.  It turns out Brett likes to play tennis… so I think I may have attained a new tennis partner.  I’ve been dying to play for months now.  I have no idea how good he is… but considering my skill level… I don’t think it will really matter anyways… at least not to me.

I don’t know how the rest of you do it, but single life sucks.  There’s no one to do special things for… especially around Columbia right now.  Everyone’s gone.  And if I do anything nice for someone without them asking… they just get all weirded out… people are just so closed off nowadays.  When did sporadic kindness lose its value?

Blah… I can’t think of anything else to write… and I need to be up at 8.  Peace.

ryn: Wow, leaving the mormon church is a huge deal, as I understand it. My lesbian friend has had some issues with it, but I imagine that they wouldn’t take it well for straight people either. . .
