Thought it would fun to take a pictorial tour of my studio, which I lovingly call the Ivory Tower. It’s above the garage and somewhat removed from the rest of the house. It was supposed to be big enough to house a photographic studio, however, it’s too small to do anything but head shots or some small product stuff. Big enough to paint in though, make boxes, listen to music, exercise and dance. With each new project twenty things have to be moved, from furniture to paintings. Everything on the walls, table and floors are all photos, or paintings that I’ve done…Not great stuff but I’m addicted to the process.

Anyway:

Box #3 Not a great picture, odd angle but the light was good. I’m not sure that it’s finished. Maybe it needs to be on a background of white shag carpet or something…dunno know.

Facing towards the too small photog.wall and my desk.

…and then looking in the other direction

I want to do something with these, mount them somehow or put them in a box of their very own.

My stand in, in the background, and a table full of leftover paintings that I was using to put in the background of the boxes.

Desk, computer, bathroom and sink complete with paint rags and tea pot.

This is my favorite spot. It’s a little tight but it’s cozy. The neighbors car is parked at the top of their drive in fear of the ‘giant’ snow storm we’re scheduled to have tomorrow…..well, now that I’ve said that it will be a giant one and he’ll get out and I won’t…..I shouldn’t have said anything…..

But anyway…..amazing I can find stuff here but it really is a fun little laboratory of sorts.

Plus another box…called Ole!

So there you have it….The Ivory Tower.

The place looks vaguely familiar. Be well, my friend.

What an attractive, exciting place! I love the angles in the ceiling, the way the light comes in, and all the colour.

What a wonderful place! No wonder you have so much inspiration. Love the light and windows. Box #3 looks so delicate-maybe some white lace. I love the bright colors in the bottom one.

That space is perfect.. I wish I had a hideaway like that do do my writing in… I thing the items you want to mount or put in a new box should be used for a Japanese theme…

Love your studio. Wish mine was half as organised!

RYN: No, I’ve not experienced it “too cold” to go out yet. We have had a couple of days in the teens and nights in negative territory, but I usually find a reason to go out for a bit. That is mostly to go to the house and visit with Nancy and Bud. Even up in Fairbanks, AK, at -40&deg, people go outside. It is not bad, if you are dressed for it, which I do. I have more winter clothes than summer itseems. I do need a good pair of snow boots though. About your boxes. I was thinking the other night, after you posted this, that I used to make something similar. I placed artificial flower arrangements in picture frames. Everyone got one of those one Christmas that year. heheheheheh The flowers were presented so to be growing out of the frame. I imagine there’s a photograph somewhere, but no scanner around, even if I found it. Be well, my friend.

All that wonderful light! What a marvelous space. A dream space in many ways just for you. I love it that what you do is art, not crafts. I am not knocking crafts and certainly there is craft in art but they are not the same thing. ryn; The Animal Cards sound great. It did take me a fair amount of time to get used to the Tarot but now I rely on it as an intuitive tool. I got a deck I liked, pulled a card every day until I learned them. They have a great sense of humor, or maybe they find mine and reflect it back to me. When I pull them I often laugh because it is all too true.
