I miss everyone here terribly! I’m just getting through a huge family gathering at my house for my mom’s 90th birthday. That was a blast but on top of that my time is being consumed with our new dog Lastic. He’s wonderful, well trained, obedient and loving and full of energy. I"m doing more walking and running than I ever did at the gym. Want to loose weight? Get an energetic puppy to play with all day!

On calm days I’ve been embroidering. This is the learning stage but I"m excited and can see it going to fun places….I’ve been posting it on http://www.pennyrossburk.com or here is a sample:

This is a combination of a photograph (the bee and honeycomb) along with what is known as Brazilian embroidery. I’ve been trying to post on that pennyrossburk blog, not sure why, maybe because it’s more accessible to Facebook and twitter and all that…not that I have a huge following but maybe once I get this art down I’ll have an audience that might want to buy it…(?) I don’t know….

Pass on my birthday greetings to Mom. Mine turns 90 in November. Be well, my friend.

Nice to have you pop in if only for a moment. The embroidery is very pretty and interesting. I’ve never seen a style like it before. The way the flower is layered reminds me of a woven basket. How wonderful you are enjoying time with Lastic. Little else brings as much joy to a home as a dog.

Beautiful. I learned how to embroider from my grandmother when I was an asthmatic toddler and couldn’t run or play. Started very simple but the one thing I remember is that she told me the backside of the work has to look as good as the front side. That is harder than you think. Haven’t done any lately. Maybe that can be another Rome of my retirement projects. Take care,

Love the embroidery! I misread it as Mum’s “goth” birthday, which wasn’t very likely really, but conjured wonderful images! Happy 90th to her, even if it wasn’t a Goth-themed one!

Very pretty!

ryn – dinner is tomorrow at 7 pm. Casual attire, lol At first, WordPress seems confusing, but the longer I use it (and I only use about 10% of its feature), the more it feels user-friendly and simple to use. I’ve met some great friends there, too. Once you get into the stream, so to say, you will have a great following there, too!

This is a little different style, but I thought you’d enjoy her posts: http://weefolk.wordpress.com/2012/03/28/posies-show-going-to-north-carolina/ Her work is whimsical and fun, and lovely, but I find yours more fine art than hers. I simply adore the fairy piece you did recently.

Lovely to see you here and such good news about your ability to provide such good companionship for the new fellow in your life. 🙂 The texture on the embroidery is marvelous. Sounds like you have been enjoying the family passing through.

ryn – there should be a “follow” choice up on the left-hand side of the top bar, for all blogs there. Some also have a “follow” choice in their sidebars, like I do. WP has just added some features, to make it easier to get around the place, so there may be an easier way than I’m describing 🙂

Your embroidery is lovely.

My skills are very limited to bleeding fingers and misguided stitches. There is a market for homemade things for sure. Wow, can’t believe your mom is 90. I guess 90 is the new 75. 🙂
