The Conductor

As in the sky when the clouds vibrate
before lightening glares its jagged line,
within the arc, intense listeners quiver
when his black cuff rises to fill the air
and the fulminating thunder resounds.

With a nod he brings in all the winds,
drawing the strings with a flick of his wrist;
and starts the brass wailing with his stern stare.
Rushing to crescendo, the cresting storm
halts – commanded by his grandiose gesture.

But persistent percussions rumble a rebellion,
sparked by clashing cymbals and tinkling chimes.
With an arrogant smile, and triumphant gaze,
he lifts the baton – then, with one thrust, ends it.
