home

I am home.  Thankfully.  Came home late Monday night and have been trying to filter myself back into life.  It’s a challenge to say the least.  I turned 32 in September, two weeks later I wind up in the ER and they think I have low blood pressure, two weeks (to the day) after that I wind up in the hospital because of the accident.

Honestly, I don’t remember what I wrote in the previous entry.  What happened – I was driving to work and passed out.  I could feel myself getting dizzy and I knew that I needed to pull over.  I waited a second too late thinking that I was making the turn into the driveway for work I would stop right there.  Instead of stopping I passed out and hit a tree dead on.

Of course I went to the hospital, they decided to keep me overnight and monitor me.  They took xrays and did mega amounts of bloodwork.  It was found I had two fractured ribs and a swollen, sprained ankle and twisted knee.  No biggie though extremely painful.  My blood pressure was way wonky but at least I was alive.  So they get me up to the room and at 10pm or so come in and take me for a "Stat CT of my lungs" – they come in later and determine I have a pulmonary embolism.

I had no symptoms, other than the fainting…which isn’t necessarily common.  So they hook me up immediately to the IV and drip heparin into me.  It is a drug that acts immediately to help dissolve blood clot.  They put me on coumadin which is a blood thinner and I will be on it for a year.  The doctors have determined that was the reason I had passed out.  So the clot will dissolve with the meds and the help of my body but it can literally take 6 months to a year.

Fun stuff, right?

But you’re alive, with just a little ‘check’ on life. You’ll think things differently now. I don’t know what causes blood clots, but I’m sure you’ll look into that, and make necessary changes. It’s good to see you’re home again though, and you’re doing well. Best wishes.

Brutal…how fast things can change…I think each day is a gift…I hope you’re up and feeling better….

My gosh. Sending good vibes your way.

ryn: i didn’t quite understand all that. are you on meds? would you like to try typing it again? i kinda got the idea, but not entirely.
