Spend it like you mean it

Ignore the gaping hole of silence for the last few weeks. In short, i went to High Wycombe for 3 weeks to do one of my medical rotations, and it wasnt too bad, i’m now ‘meant’ to be in stoke mandeville doing surgery, but am not because it’s so disgusting there. I spent 2 weekends at paul’s house with all the usual repercussions, he then told me he can’t see me ever again because he cares too much and it’s hurting him (but really it’s because the other french girl he sees in coming back to england for a year), but he’s now decided to still see me every few months when she’s not available.

Back to the present.

Today has been expensive. I went to dinner with my friend in my fave Thai place. We used to go about once a week just to cheer ourselves up, but for one reason or another havent been for about 10 or so months now. We both noticed the prices had gone up, but the food was still just as good – all 3 fat filled courses of it. I was very proud of myself for eating so ‘normally’.

It was raining when it was time to leave (again – welcome to the Oxford monsoon season), so after squatting in the door for about 10 minutes hoping either an umbrella would magically appear, or the rain would magically stop, we decide to see some real magic, and went to the cinema to see Harry Potter.

And it was perfect timing, we walked in, got our tickets (the odeon is disgustingly expensive, even when you have your trusty student card), walked to our seats, and then the lights went down and off we went. Of course there was the obligatory full 30 minutes of adverts first, but what can you do?

I used to think the ads were the best part of going to the cinema, but those were the days when they were all trailers, or occasionally special adverts that were only shown at the cinema. Nowadays it’s all the boring car adverts you see on TV anyway (not that i have a TV), and then a token 3 trailers – Even Almighty (god save us all), Transformers (obviously meant for men), and something else about being the last man on earth with Will Smith in it (very exciting and intriguing – i think it’s gonna be about aliens).

Harry Potter gets increasingly gloomy, but i enjoyed it all the same. The best bit by far was when Harry was describing his ‘kiss’ with Cho and declared that it was ‘wet’. Yeah right it’s the kiss he was talking about. Of course, me out of the entire audience thought this was hilarious and tried desparately to stop sniggering for about 10 minutes afterwards.

Of course by the end of the film it was dark outside. The problem with spontinaity (damn it, i dont know how to spell it), is the lack of planning (no shit!). So there we were in town with our bikes and no bikes lights. I proceeded to cycle home at the speed of light to avoid those nasty police men and their nasty fines, and almost collapsed at the other end, but luckily managed to evade capture, naughty girl that i am.

On the theme of being naughty, after taking the whole of last week off work for no good reason, i now intend to take monday and half of tuesday off, and then from wednesday onwards off next week. mmhm, you know you’re jealous.

My parents returned from Florida today. So tomorrow i get to talk to them about it all and pretend i’m not eaten alive by jealousy.

Ya the Odeon is a ripoff! What are the consequences of you taking so much time off? What excuse do you give?

You’re back! Hope that you’re doing well. And even though it was expensive, I’m sure you had a good time – minus the rain and bike ride home! It’s meant to be Summer there!! hhehe

I hope you don’t get in trouble for taking some time off. On the other hand I think you deserve a holiday so enjoy your time away from it all. RYN: I guess there’s been a lot going on and there’s still lots to do with moving out, going back to uni etc so I probably am quite stressed although I tell myself I’m not. I don’t know if that’s causing this but I guess it won’t help either.
