I’m back and as gloomy as ever

I now have internet access again. Yay!! Back to university finally. We left at 8.30am, arrived about 5.30 pm. Long drive.

Christmas was ok. New Year we walked a couple of miles to the next village to watch men carry flaming tar barrels on their heads. It was pretty good actually. I enjoyed it.

Then the storms came. The new house is halfway between Carlisle and Hexham (refer to news for details) in the middle of nowhere so suffered the worst of all worlds. I’ve never known wind like it. It was very terrifying.

Anyway to cut a long story short and just get to the juicy details of other peoples’ misery that everyone loves to read about, a big ass branch fell of the tree, the living room flooded, we had no electricity or water for 4 days. That continues today. My parents are staying  in a hotel. There is meatn to be another storm tonight. God knows what that’ll do.

To get water to drink, wash (cold water of course), flush the toilet, anything, we have to get a bucket, walk about a mile, fill it with ater, walk back (every tried carrying a bucket full of water that far?) then boil it before it can be drunk. We have no power to boil the water. The central heating doesn’t work. We had to try and light a fire in the front room (which was flooded) to try and stay warm. On the first night we slept downstairs where the fire had been (we had to try and chop up the branch that blwe off the tree to burn). I was in my Duke of Edinburgh Award rucksack which is guaranteed down to -10oC. I was freezing. Mum had 2 double bed duvets on top of her. That was while fully dressed. We couldn’t cook. I had to live on packets of crisps. Put on so much fucking weight.

I can’t actually describe what a nightmare it’s been. I’ve been on the verge of tears for the last 5 days, still almost cry when I think about it, my parents are still going through it (water wont be back till Friday at the earliest) and no-one actually believes it ws bad. They just laughed at me and looked down their snotty fucking noses at me as if I’m some peasant that just walked in from the middle of nowhere.

I am very lonely.

RYN: Yes it was a really good film! It seriously makes you think twice about eating any kind of junk food, especially McDonalds, even the salads!!!
