crash 2
I got run over again today.
It was an accident this time. I was going round a clear roundabout and a guy suddenly decided to go, crashed into me and knocked me off my bike. So there I was lying in the middle of the road. A medical student came and helped me up. I was again surprisingly unhurt, but it was very dramatic this time since i was literally lying in the middle of a roundabout.
Now, my bike is still busted up from last time, but I thought that since it really does need fixing now, and this time it wasnt my fault, i should tell my parents and hope they’ll pay for repairs. So I emailed them and got an instant phone call from Dad asking if I was ok, and then a phone call from Mum who sounded angry and told me off for not taking the man’s number so we could charge him for the bike. Never any pleasing my Mum. She also told me I should have gone to A and E to sue him for injuring me too, but other than being a bit stiff, i dont think i am injured.
I was kinda in shock though. I was just sat in the teaching thinking i was either going to faint or throw up and the people i’d told what had happened kept casting me worried glances. To be honest I kinda liked the attention.
So my bike is now being fixed, estimated cost £40. And now i am restricted to walking everywhere.
I had to go and clerk a patient today – an old guy, metastatic cancer in bowels, skin and lungs, depressed as hell, probably only a couple of weeks left to live. Woohoo, i went in and asked if he wouldnt mind talking to me, he said ok, i asked if he felt well, he said no, i asked in what way he didnt feel well. We never got any further, he just wasnt really talking to me, so i left and read his extensive notes instead. I have to go on the wardround tomorrow and then present his case at the MDT. Kill me now, I’m never going to get out of there.
One piece of good news – I passed Obs and Gynae. Everyone did, so that is unexpected but nice!
well done on passing! xxxx

you should still go to A&E despite feeling ‘okay’. As a medical student, you should know that there could be allsorts of injuries happened to you, but you’re in shock, and may not think otherwise. And parents – yeah, my mum would have said exactly the same thing – and then it would have been ME that was in the wrong, for not getting the guys contact number. LOL. Oh, and congrats on passing. x

I agree you should’ve gone to A&E, but thankfully you’re okay as it turned out. I probably would’ve charged him for the damage done to the bike, but I guess in the heat of the moment, sometimes we don’t think about things like that. Well done passing Ob&Gyn =)
