Shifting Sand and other things

::smiles::

And I finally got through “Something About Us” without crying. Maybe things are getting better?

I spent from 4 until 8 with Val, Em, and Christine. We went to Peking and then to the sidewalk sale. We had a lot of fun. Then we went to Emery’s birthday party. There was a very violent game of Red Rover, good food, a good talk with Jessica, a walk to Paul’s house, a good talk with Katie, good music, and just general fun. Val, Em and I left before midnight so could have a “girl’s drive.” We talked about sex and all those related topics the entire time. It was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed myself today. Maybe things are getting better?

The following song lyrics are from a Christian Rock song. I ran across a line from it in a magazine and downloaded it, after which I figured out the genre. I found that funny. But if you don’t look at it from a religious aspect, it’s quite easily applied to my life (except for a couple of lines, which I’ve put in quotes, because they simply ARE religious in nature and can’t be changed). But it’s a beautiful song and a good one to think about. Because I believe that you can have faith in things other than religion. I do.

Sometimes I believe all the lies
So I can do the things I despise
And everyday I am swayed
By whatever is on my mind

I hear it all depends on my faith
So I’m feeling precarious
The only problem I have with these mysteries
Is they’re so mysterious

And like a consumer I’ve been thinking
If I could just get a bit more
More than my fifteen minutes of faith
Then I’d be secure

My faith is like shifting sand
Changed by every wave
My faith is like shifting sand
So I stand on grace

Stand on grace

“I’ve begged You for some proof
For my Thomas eyes to see
A slithering staff, a leprous hand
And lions resting lazily

A glimpse of Your back-side glory
And this soaked alter going ablaze
But you know I’ve seen so much
And I explained it away”

Waters rose as my doubts resigned
My sand-castle faith, it slipped away
Found my self standing on Your grace
It’d been there all the time

Stand on grace…
