Jane and the Fingerless Man</U
I got up around 10 to do some psych, english, and…more english! Micky, Matt, Christine, and Mitch came over around 2:30, we picked up Chris, and then went to the bus station. Bought a USA Today, and the six of us split it to read on the way up to Madison. “Asked” Mitch to Homecoming…:) Just to get formalities out of the way.
Emily and Jane met us at the Union, and we went down to the square. The concert was just about to start, and we worked our way up to one side. Right next to the speakers. 🙂
It was a GOOD show. Despite the fight, the drunk, fingerless man that kissed Jane (and later hit on me), and not meeting up with the other group till later. We found Alex, Meg, Val, Danielle, Rachel, Ani, and a bunch of others waiting in line. Bought a shirt, got some stuff signed (he remembered Rachel!). Myra, Aaron, Brum, Rob, John, and Ellie were there, too. Part of our group went to Noodles, the rest went to Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream. Pistachio Nut in a White Chocolate cone…yummy. My only “downer” time of the trip to Madison. My group of six walked back to the Union, and Micky, Matt, and Christine ended up getting Chinese (or something, I’m not really sure) while, Chris, Mitch, and I went down to sit by the lake.
That was a very, very cool experience. A surreal setting sun, hushed conversation, drums, and the gentle lapping of the water. Mitch and I talked a tiny bit about college. I don’t think he’ll be in state and that really worries me. We’re at the point in our relationship where we haven’t been together long enough for either of us to base our college choice on each other, but at the same time…I don’t like the idea of not seeing him every day. I really don’t know.
We left around 8:30, with everyone being fairly quiet in the car. Mitch and I fell asleep, and Christine and Matt were talking. I think they’re having a problem. I don’t really know, as it’s obviously not my business.
We got home around 9:15 and went to Jane’s. Highlights of the night include “losing” the cat, tripping on the bed on the porch, falling up the steps, water guns, sniffing vodka and “dos dedos,” lots of fun with candles and such, and “romantic” lighting. Oh, plus quality Cosmo time with Emily.
Rachel and I snuck upstairs to talk. She’s such a comfort to me. I just laid my head in her lap and talked. She listened and petted my hair (that always comforts me) and helped me. She has such a wonderful maternal instinct…and perfect timing as well. She also made me talk to Mitch.
So we went and had our talk. Walked around the block. And I didn’t get quite the answers I wanted…I mean, there’s still more I want to know. But at the time, I just said it was all okay. But I think I’ll be able to bring it up to him later. But he told me something really cute about the one night out at the Wolters’ (the doughnut/fake dog pee night). The rest of the time at Jane’s was spent just talking in her backyard. 🙂 Good times. And Val and I are probably going shopping for dresses next week. Fun!
