Diet spaghetti sauce? *sigh* Jane…

I wish my day had started out better. Because it ended really nicely.

But this morning was bad. Running a tiny bit late, another “what should I wear?” morning, and just my typical morning crabiness. Marching was basic, but my group (three of us) were put in the wrong order by Rush, so getting into concert block was a bitch. But hey, we figured it out. Oh, and in 3rd hour, he said we could add a 3/4 turn. Rock on.

But when seniors were dismissed and I went back into the band room to change my shoes and grab my bag, I just wanted to go home. I just wanted to run and run and run. Maybe not go home. Just somewhere other than where I was right then. Mitch wanted to know if I was okay, and, of course, I just shrugged it off. Wow, I’m a bitch. Naomi gave me a can of Red Bull, which I chugged. And I thought, “This is it. I have to tell Mom.”

In Spanish, I could laugh a little – I got an A on my test.

The vocab test in English was a breeze, and we just bummed around the rest of the hour. Talked a little about Wuthering Heights…got family trees. Compared it to mine…I’d actually done it right! How cool!

It was pizza day in 3rd hour. This was one of my high points of the day. Not because of the pizza, but for a few other reasons. Having a class with Ashley is always fun, for one thing. And having that guy’s cell phone constantly ringing was hysterical. And then we had a contest. Rush told all of the seniors to go to the back of the room (the whole band had been “arguing” over which grade should get pizza first). And then he said, “If you can do this in 45 seconds or less…” and I KNEW we were going to have to line up alphabetically. And I was right. Starting with Anderson by the door and Myra by the practice rooms, we spent 30 frantic seconds mentally running through the alphabet, pushing and shoving people around, and making a last minute switch with Ben and Jay. We stood, about 20 or so of us, all bunched together, for a few triumphant seconds. I was wedged between Justin and Lucas. And I know I was grinning like an idiot. I don’t care. That made me really happy and I don’t know why. Then D made the juniors do it, to see if they could beat our time, but they couldn’t. So we won. 🙂 Afterwards there was an odd discussion about if you’re a “chest guy” or an “ass and leg” guy. Strange…and I felt like I was stuck in the middle of the Muppet Show.

4th hour was lazy. Cleaned my instrument and hung around at the back tables with the usual crew. Jeff cut his leg (how?!), and Matt, Myra, and I ate chocolate, those Dove promise things.

Lunch was to Subway. I rode bitch in back, with Lindsay and Joe. I got actual turkey this time, not “pale roast beef.” 🙂 Back in the parking lot, I got Andrew’s senior pictures, and took a picture of a bunch of the senior varsity football players piling into his Bravada.

5th hour was easy, some junk with Punnett squares and all that stuff. Cool as usual.

6th…bad. Bad, bad, bad.

The psych test wasn’t too bad. It was a fun, basic day in there. And I got 10 of 10 on my study guide. Cool.

At practice, I simply went on stage, acted, then walked off. And spent the rest of the time talking to Mike, searching ODs with Sarah, and being anywhere BUT the auditorium. And that worked fine.

Took the long way around to senior lot, came home, and Jane called. She picked me up, we went to Blockbuster and Woodman’s (“I want to rebel. I need to rebel. Do you think they have diet spaghetti sauce?”), where we determined I’m 70% anal. 🙂

Then we went to Aaron’s. Mitch and Andrew were hanging out with Aaron and Jeff, jamming in the basement. We hung around downstairs for a while, then we sat around in the living room. Aaron and Jeff ran to Arby’s, and Mitch and I watched the lightning on the front porch. I semi-spilled my guts to him about stuff…and then just hugged him for a really nice, long time…one of my favorite things to do. The guys got back, Jane and I drove the Bravada, and our hair stood on end.

Andrew and I went to work at the jam. ALL frosh. Aih. Talked to Erin H. a bunch. Just goofed around for our shift, turned things over to Ryan Likes, then went to Mitch’s. The four of them were there, playing Smash. We started watching “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” but we had to leave at midnight (damn parents and their silly rules!), which is actually good because he has soccer on Saturday, and he needs his sleep. So Andrew and I went driving for an hour.

We talked about things that I needed to talk about. Things that made me smile, made me laugh, made me think, made me uncomfortable, everything. He told me things I’d never heard before. He just helped me a lot.

Thanks, Andrew.
