“Bang it, don’t just shake it”
::points to title:: That’s courtesy of Karla, when she was talking about pollen bags.
Another day in the cornfield. I’ve worked 46 hours in the past 4 days, so it’s an understatement to say I’m thoroughly exhausted. ๐ But I really enjoy the people – Hazel, Rose, Ben, the Joes, Ethan, Kyle, Luke, Charles, Jon, Karla, Katy, and, of course, Mitch. The younger kids are kind of a “thorn in my side,” but when I work in my usual group (the older/experienced kids), it’s a lot of fun. Today brought a whole bunch of incredibly stupid jokes, and, as usual, too many sexual references to count. Every day there’s sex talk. It’s amusing. ๐ It’s a physically tiring job, but it requires so little thinking that the rest of my brain can be devoted to asking Ben if I can have half of his wristbands (which were made out of Ethan’s socks), figuring out whose satchel I should put the baby corn into, or inventing new ways to whine. At least once a day, most of us start figuring out how much money we’re making, which is a really nice part of the day. Lunch is good, too, because everyone’s so happy to eat and the mood is generally good.
And there’s something quite magical about leaving at 8:30 at night, dirty, sore, and tired, and watching the sun, the same one that you watched rise, as it sets in a darkening sky.
๐ It’s been a good experience thus far. And many more days to come.
But it’s 8:30, and I’ve got a lot to do in the hour and a half before I go to bed. That 6 o’clock alarm goes off WAY too early.
Later.
hey, what about a 4am alarm! Feels good to make money though…I miss ya chica…naomi~
