Alecia’s favorite day

Both of my bosses were out of the office today at the info desk, so we were all a little more goofy than usual.  I spent most of my two hours there talking with Ashley and Jeanne, about Jeanne’s awesome year and leather pants and 25 pounds and other funny, silly girl things.

Then, at the Children’s Center, it was cleaning day!  Tomorrow, people are going to be wandering around our rooms for the Early Chidhood Conference, so we had to make it look AWESOME!  And that’s exactly what we did: every single thing got scrubbed, scraped, polished, swept, dusted, and organized.

First of all, the cleaning began with Alecia beaning me with a marble – she claims she was aiming for John.  πŸ˜‰  Uh-huh, right!

I got out every piece of play food and all of the dishes in the kitchen area and sorted it all into the correct bins while Alecia, Maggie, John, and I played the movie game (Faye and Ryan B. wouldn’t play!).  Then, John and I cleaned out all the kids’ cubbies and put on new name tags.  He spent the whole time making fun of me (big surprise) and we all giggled about folding underwear.  Then Maggie and I cleaned the firehouse model and the dollhouse, paying particular attention as we set them back up – we should be interior decorators!  Then came some fun with the Goo Gone and a metal scraper (we definitely got high off of those fumes!), as well as the accidental removal of some paint from the red shelves.  Whoops!

I helped Alecia set up this cool Asian-themed food set on the kitchen table – this would later cause Faye to exclaim, “Wow, Becky has the same stuff in her room.  And it’s set up the exact same way!” (this was because we’d all set the stuff up according to the picture on the box  πŸ˜‰ ).  There was vacuuming and throwing away old junk, finding ridiculous amounts of marbles and laughing hysterically about the “flying” puppets, sorting winter clothes and trying to fit the ticket booth back into the 2nd storage room (yeah, RIGHT).  Then Faye climbed into the box the new TV came in and pretended it was a car – Ryan T. pushed her down the hall SUPER fast, and when she tried to turn the corner, the box fell over, and the three of us cracked up.  You had to see it – and the whole hall smelled like burning cardboard!  Yay for friction!

Ryan B. made a family tree by painting his hand and arm (Grandma was the thumb!) and I had to smell the pillows.  πŸ˜›  There was a hilarious adventure with Maggie, Ryan B., and a wasp (the wasp ended up dead by means of a plastic play fork and a flyswatter) and WAY too much good food in the lounge.  The day eventually ended with shoving everything that we wanted to “hide” into the 2nd storage room, and then the Ryans, Faye, and I went out to the playground to sit around on the new wicker patio furniture and chatted for a bit.  It was time to head to Pizza Hut around that time, so Ryan B. and I went with Faye to the library to drop off the circus-themed books (56 fit in the slot!), then to the restaurant.

Ryan T., John, Jackie, Becky, and Alecia joined us, and so did Faye’s boyfriend.  He’s from Janesville, actually graduated from Craig – it was really funny to find that out!  He’s super nice – hope to see more of him!  Dinner was yummy (at the time – now my stomach is yelling at me for eating like crap today!) and we all giggled and talked about our kids and freaked out when Brett (Faye’s boyfriend) went running out the door like a madman and fawned over Katie when she came in with her dad and Ryan T. and I made laundry dates for summer.

Now I’m at home, doing laundry and trying to unwind so I can get to sleep – Mom’s getting me up at 8:30 so I can get ready to walk to breakfast – we figure that’s a good way to get in a bit of exercise for the day!  And I’m ALWAYS in the mood for breakfast at Wedge Inn!  So good!

I like the people I work with – they’re amazing.  πŸ™‚  Ooh, and the Brewers tickets came in today at the Info Desk!  I just have to make sure not to lose them in the next 2 weeks!
