Mitch got his bass today…which made him so incredibly happy.

And it allowed me to have the most awesome experience.

We were sitting in Andrew’s living room and I had the bass positioned on my legs. I don’t know how to play, not at all. But I do know how to run my fingers along the strings. Starting at the bottom, I strummed my way up to the top. And that final string produced a low, rumbling noise that vibrated my entire body. I just kept strumming the same four notes over and over. He put his hand on the frets…I think he was trying to help me make a chord, but in the end, he stopped and just let me sit there, with my eyes closed, enjoying the feel of the music.

Not what you’d call music. Not what anyone would call music. But it was just what I needed at that moment.

And it was wonderful…
