Evil dog decision and a horse with a new name…
So, I have cooled down.
Some.
My husband says he’s going to talk to his mom and tell her that (insert horrible dog’s name here) is going to have to be locked up in another room or put in his crate if Sera comes over to visit them. I don’t think that’s asking too much, since this is the SECOND time that animal has bit her IN THE FACE. He did it once about a year ago, when she was about 18 mos old, because she got too close to his one of his toys that was sitting on the couch. He bit her in the forehead near her eye and left a nasty bruise. Granted, the dog’s a shi-tzu, so he’s not very big, but for a kid he’s big enough.
And we’ve had enough. She either locks the dog up or Sera will not be visiting. ’nuff said.
We didn’t report it, being that the dog belongs to close family and Sera isn’t badly hurt. But what worries me is what’s going to happen when it bites someone and really hurts them. This animal has a history of biting and attacking people and it really bothers me, but I’m not enough of a snitch to rat out my husband’s parents’ dog.
Sera’s cheek is much better, but the (now two) punctures in her skin are still kinda ugly and she still has a little bit of swelling. Ibuprofen is on board along with peroxide twice a day. So far so good. At least she’s feeling much better:)
On a happier note, my friend Val is going to be half-leasing my old mustang gelding, Sleepy, so he’ll be getting worked and I’ll be able to focus more on my two TWH geldings and getting them where I want them. This is a GOOD thing!
Speaking of which, I’ve finally made a decision about the new guy, "Doc". Since I bought him in August I’ve had problems with his name. It doesn’t suit him in the slightest, I guess he just doesn’t look anything like a "Doc" and most of the time I just call him "Horse" because I just don’t think of his name when I think of him. So I think I’m changing his name.
I don’t take such things lightly. He’s had this name for a few years and I don’t like to fix something if it ain’t broken. But when I knew him years ago as a two year old his name was Humphrey, and to be honest, if I could stand having a horse named Humphrey I would change it back. But, alas, I can’t, so I need to find something that is similar but different enough that I can live with it.
Cue "Huey".
Yep, gonna name him "Huey". As in Baby Hewie. He’s big, kind of clumsy, kind, and well-intentioned. He’s also big, clumsy, and sometimes kind of a jerk. So, "Huey" it is.
Plus it gives him a little bit of bad-ass. A 16.2 hh black horse should have a little bit of bad-ass in his name, and naming him after a military grade helicopter will do just fine.
So, now my boys are as follows:
"Sleeping Jesus", aka Sleepy, or Neepy, the mustang
"JMF Phoenix Rising", aka Stretch, the TWH and a stinker
"Traveling Soldier", aka Levi, the pony from hell
"Cash’s Chasin’ Fame", aka Huey, the new TWH kid on the block
Man, I’m SUCH a GEEK! *wallows in her geekness*

Aviva geekdom; I like your horses’ names. Also good direction on the dog situation. Sometimes small dogs can be more aggressive than larger ones when it comes to children, and they need special attention. Either that or put it in a very tall box in the laundry. And gag its mouth >)
