Brew City Dog Rescue
Well, today at work I talked to someone interesting about dog rescue. I’ve been transferred from the Seasonal Dept. to the Farm Dept. and was cleaning shelves and fixing signage(former employee in Farm not so good at signs… or cleaning… or, well, ANYTHING) when a lady came in and asked about bulk rope. Turns out she needed something sturdy to tie out her GINORMOUS yellow lab who kept snapping his ropes with his mightyness, something that would last until they could finish putting up the fence in her yard. We began talking and she told me she was part of Brew CIty Dog Rescue, a non-profit that liasons with area shelters and breed rescues to foster and adopt out puppies and dogs.
I am seriously considering fostering a dog. I went to their web site http://www.brewcityrescue.org and was really pleased with what I saw. I hope I can talk Brian into it. I know we have a lot on our plates, but I used to foster animals and I really miss it.
A dog in our household will get lots of hugging and squashing from a toddler, lots of rough-housing with the Snoof and the Meatlog, and lots of teasing from naughty kitties. There would be treats and some snuggling. Possibly some walks and maybe some trips to the dog park. Granted, there would be a day or so a week where he might have to amuse himself with the other animals while Brian and I are at work, but our schedules mix and shift so much that most days there is someone home for a good part of the day. I’d like to think that our house is pretty dog-friendly. And cat-friendly. Any house where the animals get 90% of a queen-sized bed at night is a pet palace.
Spoiled critturs.
I would like to volunteer until I can convince Brian to let me do this. I would also like to get Chance involved in agility or flyball. It’s just so hard to justify spending any money right now. Maybe Snoof will have to settle for going running with his fat mom when the weather warms up.
Well, that is all from this front. Much happiness to all in OD land.
