As we travel along, singin’ a song…..

Yep.

*checks pulse*

Still alive.

*sighs*

I went back to work today after a month of workman’s comp, which was directly caused by a little escapade involving a greasy meat department floor and my backside. And my neck. And my spine.

And my pride; which, as they say, goeth before a…. whatever.

The day went…. ok. Not great, not awful. We managed to close on time with a few minutes to spare and I didn’t pass out and die on the 40 min. drive home.

These are good things.

My back hasn’t gone and strike and moved to Tihujuana to race donkeys and sell bootleg liquor. My feet are only a little whiny. My ankles didn’t swell up like sausage casings filled with Jello. And I think I’ll sleep pretty well tonight minus the happy pills.

These are VERY good things.

*lets out another sigh and rubs her feet*

Now, the things that have gone to hell in a hand basket-

The boy is having to look for a new job, because his current job won’t work with his full-time college courses. Yes, my husband is going to school full-time and working full-time, as well as fulfilling his Army reserve contract. He has asked his job if he can come in a little early and leave a little early on the two days he has night school(a little early meaning a half-hour). They whined about it. Then they give him more deliveries which means he doesn’t get back to the office to clock out that little bit early. They’ve made him late for class with this garbage, and it has to stop.

The VA is understaffed and underfunded, so his state and federal GI bills have yet to start, meaning we’re so broke we can’t afford to pay attention.

We’re supposed to buy the house this month. I’ll be sure to save that extra tip money I get from working the corner just to be able to pull this off. No GI bill means no house, meaning we get to live in a box.

*snorts* Maybe I can put the box out at the barn so I can just pay board on myself and not a mortgage.

Anyway, no good deed goes unpunished. Every time we get ahead we get kicked in the teeth. I’m starting to think I need head protection just to step out of the house.

*grins*

FrogBaby is still obnoxious and that’s the one thing that I think keeps the boy and I pluggin’ along. 2-and-a-half and getting more awesome by the day.

Case in point:

Sera: *about to throw a world-class tantrum*
Me: Are you going to throw a fit?
Sera: *hesitates* Yes.
Me: Can I watch? Can I take pictures?
Sera: *grins* Yes.

And another:

Sera: *mumbles something getting out of the bathtub*
The Husband: *startled* Did you just say, ‘Hail Chaos, undivided’?
Sera: *evil grin* Yes……..

I rest my case. I have the kewlest kid ever.

*yawns*

I’m off to put my sad feets up and do some serious snoozin’. Have a nice weekend, y’all.

Things are like that sometimes, but I’m glad Sera’s giving you joy. My sister’s just had a baby, the first in our family, so I’m having heaps of fun with my niece. Fingers crossed for you.
